Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good morning! You sure have been a chatty little group since last I posted. Lots to read this morning.

Kathy - Thanks for the update from Nancy. I haven't messaged her recently, so it's good to hear she's doing things and making decisions. That's a healthy sign. Sorry Old Nick isn't doing better. Will keep him in my prayers. That must have been some lucheon after the funeral the other day. Glad that even though you didn't go, you got some of the food, so you don't have to cook.

Dave - I love how you snoop on your neighbors and give us blow by blow descriptions on what is going on in that house behind you. Have you actually ever met the people? Might be a good idea and then you won't have to sneak looks at what is going on. They'd probably tell you, if you asked.

Karen - I hope that the pool deal can be worked out soon. Otherwise, by the time it's ready, we'll be into the heart of rainy and hurricane season. We only had a short light drizzle here yesterday. It certainly didn't ruin anything. Today there will be even less chance of rain and that's a good thing.

Lee - I would have loved to make an adult fruit cocktail, but don't forget, we have kids in the family. They really did a number on the strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Definitely not very much left at all.

Our BBQ yesterday was so much fun that we will do it all over again today, but with G&E and the boys. There's still plenty of salads left, so there's not much I have to add to and that's a good thing.

I think I have got to finally make the decision to get rid of Cappi, much as it breaks my heart to do so. Once again, he bit through the oxygen line. I realized it when we were in bed and I suddenly was not getting anything through the line. I had to wake Bert up and he did an emergency repair of the line, so that I at least got some O2. Trouble with that was that I woke up every 2 hours all night long. Then around 7 I had to wake him up again as I was not getting any air. Turned out that there was a kink in the line cutting off the air flow. I am so tired today. I'm going to have to call the shelter tomorrow that does not put animals down and make an appointment to bring him there. You have no idea how hard this is going to be for me, but I can't go on knowing that he might bite the line at any time.

On that note, I'm going to get off here and enjoy a cup of coffee while Bert changes out the O2 line again. Have a wonderful day, everyone, even if you aren't going out to buy a mattress. Enjoy the day as you remember why we are celebrating today. :)

Pat, sorry to hear Cappi's behavior has not improved any...I know it's a tough call to make...but you can't be without your o2 and you can't be worrying that he is going to bite thru more wires again & set the place on fire....(((Hugs))) for you

Time to say good night. After 2 full days with family, I am done for the night. Time to put on my jammies, watch some TV and just chill until bedtime, which isn't going to be that late tonight. See you in the AM! :)

For all the things we forget or can't recall at the moment, it's interesting how music stays in our noggins. Year after year. Thanks so much KC for posting that great song. Wonderful video. And NO, we've never introduced ourselves to the lady that lives right behind us. No reason, just never have.

Would just closing the bedroom door be enough to not have to send Cappi away, BB? Fantastic Memorial Day picture. One of those that you have to focus on a while to understand it.

K2; Thanks for sharing Nancy's update. From the way it sounds it's the beginning of selling off many of the "boy's toys". I too think that Lee is 1/2 American. It would be hilarious if we found out that he started here, then burned his draft card, and then skedaddled to Canada to live.

And after that comment Lee, this video is just for you.

I believe too that you will be able to do that Disney Princess 5K this upcoming winter. Just build slow & safe, and follow your doctor's and therapists suggestions.

Today should be a calm rain free day in the lower 70's. No rain until Wednesday, which of course is lawn crew day. Kathi wants to make a few stops such as UPS, the bank and picking up some lemon extract. And maybe take Fuzzbutt for a walk. She's been doing it on sunny and warm days lately. I haven't been able to take the dogs on walks since my legs started getting weaker. Even with my time on the treadmill.

Good Morning GANG!

Somehow it seems like MONDAY even though everyday is the same for us RETIREE's.
Like Dave said....it's going to be a beautiful day. Sunny and warm already.

Pat: I feel bad about Cappi. Is there a Rescue that would take him? (I think he's a him) You have to do what you have to do. Can't take a chance of not being able to breath in the middle of the night. Take care.

Karen: How nice that Barb was able to represent the family at the reunion. A nice break from the usual routine.

Lee: I bet you and Lu-Ann and the pups were at the park early this morning. Going to be a nice day. How is your friends house down the block coming along? Are they getting close to moving in yet? How many empty lots are left around your area? Bet you can't wait for all the construction trucks and the DIRT to be gone. SOON!!

DAVE: I was thinking since our LEE is 1/2 American I wonder if he could get to VOTE in the next election. He might just be the SWING VOTE needed at the time. We'll have to look into that for sure.

We are going to be going to the cemetery around 12:30pm for the delayed burial. At least it's a bright sunny day for the families sake.

Things must be really bad for our NICK. His daughter that lives in LA is coming home again this Thursday. And his other daughter that lives somewhere in Northern California is coming home too. SAD.

Okay, I have enough time to run over to our big Kroger's and buy us some GRUB. I've put this off long enough. I washed my hair and have my change of clothes ready for later and should be able to get this task done in time. ALWAYS SOMETHING!

My knee is hanging in there with the brace on it. I'm watching not to twist it the wrong way.

Please have a FANTASTIC DAY folks and don't do anything stupid. Pick up a book, read a little and relax.

Later..........

Ah, allergy season. Normally not a big deal. I just pop the allergy “pill of the day” and carry on. I now have to call or drop in on the pharmacist to see what I can take that won’t interact in a negative way with this silly heart thingy.
You folks shared a lot of beautiful tributes yesterday to recognize Memorial Day. Well done each one of you. This was the first time in four years that I got the feeling that you all are indeed extra proud to be American again.
As a matter of fact, when I was younger, I did have a draft card. When I discovered it wasn’t for free draft beer I burned it and fled north. Of course, when you flee north from here it gets pretty danged cold pretty fast!
So many “vintage” clips in that tune Dave. I remember being at the movin’ pictures for Rocky and everyone in the theatre jumped to their feet cheered at the end!
Hmmm. I started this note this morning and got distracted. That was 5 1/2 hours ago! Silly Bunny.
Pat, no matter what you decide about Cappi you’re doing it because your health could be at stake. You can’t put a price on that.
How goes “The Pool Saga” Karen? And yes, we expect photos once it’s up!
Well Kathie, if indeed I could cast a half vote it wouldn’t be for a “half vast” candidate like t. Thank you for letting us know how Nancy is doing. She is such a nice lady and I’m sure it hurts when she sees and has to deal with getting rid of “Tony’s Toys”. I suspect young Mr. Benjamin misses his Grandpa a great deal too.
I‘m glad to hear your knee is at least not getting any worse. If there is a bright side to Nick’s situation it is that he seems to have lead a good, independent life for most of his 99 years. He will be in our thoughts too.
Our friends house is in the final stages of completion. They take possession in a month. All of the houses on our street are done except for in a few cases landscaping. Now they are working on the street behind us. The last street in this subdivision. Yes, it will be good to be out of the dirt and dust.
Going to sign off for now. After our river walk we stopped at the butcher in town and picked up some chicken and shrimp kabobs for dinner. Looking forward to that!

Good morning (for at least the next 14 minutes that is). Got a lot going on around here today. Need to run to the store for a few things and make a trip to the library to return some books and to pick up a new one.
I was doing great with my timing of everything this morning until the friend that we often go to the Grille with called and I had to listen to her tale of wo as to how they were treated at the Sunday brunch. Seems like when she & her daughter are there alone, she claims everyone ignores them, except when they are with us. I guess it's our magnetic personalities that draws people to us!! LOL

Kathie - I'll be thinking of you at the funeral burial today. It brings closure to a very sad week.
I'm trying to find a no kill shelter for Cappi. I suggested to Bert that we put him in the small bathroom at night on the other side of the house and give that a try. Funny thing about this cat. He can sense when something is going on. He had to escort me into the bathroom first thing this morning and was purring up a storm wanting me to pet him. He also is just lying near me and will not take his eyes off me. Talk about sending someone on a guilt trip!

Lee - So how was your walk this morning. I feel your pain with the allergies. I'm glad we are now over most of them now. It's just the grasses that are getting me now. I say this as the landscapers are outside cutting the lawn right now, so I will be suffering later. Bummer having to check to see which allergy med you can take, but it's for your own good.

Dave - Interesting that you've never met the neighbor behind you. How far away is your house from theirs? Love your video this morning.

Karen - Did you ever get any rain yesterday? We didn't get a drop, which was a good thing with the gang coming over. It wasn't too hot and not too cold. It was PURE FLORIDA!

Well, I see I didn't manage to get this finished before noon once again, but I do need to run and get some stuff done before we run to the store and library. Have a fantastic day, everyone! :)

Forgot to mention earlier that today starts the most exciting time of the year in Florida - HURRICANE SEASON! Let the games begin!!!
On that not I'm out of here for tonight. Time for a glass of wine on the lanai and then some Publix fried chicken with our leftover salads for dinner. After that? Who knows what we may do! ;)

The kabobs were really good. But then somebody mentioned Publix Fried Chicken…
I think we’re doing a Costco run bright and early tomorrow. We like to take advantage of “old farts hour”. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Lee: Your dinner sounded like it was yummy!
Got my flowers fertilized with some Rapid Grow! I think they’ll be happier now!
I go for a little out patient procedure in the morning. No food or water after midnight. Be there at 9 am. Get knocked out at 10 am. Get to spend a few hours chilling out and then ART drives me home. I’ve had this done before and it’s no big deal!

I’ll catch up with you sweet people later in the day!

Have a safe HUMP DAY!

It's suppose to be rainy days both today and Thursday. So I left a voice mail for our lawn guy asking if he could fit us in and mow yesterday. After the long holiday weekend I figured that he'd be playing catch-up and probably wouldn't show. But he and his daughter DID shortly after 6PM. I'm a happy camper.

That guy sure has the lawn equipment. He had mentioned once that his mowers average $10,000.

Today, a fella is coming to power wash our house and the white vinyl fence. He has said that it's fine if he does it in the rain, but he won't do it if it's lightening. We're 3rd on his list, so he says he should be here around noon. (In a way it's a reminder of how I'm weakening with time, seeing as it was just a few years ago I bought my own power washer.)

It sure doesn't sound good for Nick, K2. It is good news though that your knee is "hanging in there".

Lee, you've probably never taken this many pills in one day in your entire life. It's funny how our cupboards have taken on the look of a pharmacy. So at Costco what time of day is the "old farts hour"?

Lucky you BB & KC, you guys are once again in Hurricane-Season. None of that around here. At the moment we're in Cicada Season. But that only lasts a few weeks and only comes once every 17 years. As far as how far away we are from that lady's house behind us....I'd say a good hundred yards. Houses around here are not that far from the street, or side by side, but we've all got deep yards.

Time now for some hot chili and rye toast.

Hopefully your procedure is smooth and goes as planned Kathie! Get Art to buy you a Starbucks foo foo drink on the way home.
Hey, look who popped in while I was typing. Mornin’ Dave. Old Fart hour is 8:00 to 10:00. If you’re over 60 or a front line worker with ID you get in. Yes, they do turn people away and make them wait until 9:00! I’m curious. Do they power wash your home from the bottom up? I ask because I saw a guy in FL doing his house. He started at the bottom because he said if he started at the top the runoff left streaks on the bottom. Made sense to me.
Pills…argh! ‘Nuff said about those things.
Best get my butt in gear. Well, mine is up so I best get my sweetie going.
Back later. You all have a wonderful Wednesday!

OOPS! That hour is actually 8:00 - 9:00 Dave.
We arrived a tick after 8:00 and walked right in. My first time in any Big Box or grocery store since "The Procedure" so I used the shopping cart as my walker. Because of the
lockdown you could only get pet stuff, food for people and the pharmacy. All other "non essential" products were blocked off by skids and pallets. By the time we came out at 8:45 there was a real good line of folks waiting for the 9:00 hour so they could go in.
It was double star day at Starbucks so we popped over there and split a low fat turkey bacon breakfast sandwich and a couple of roasted red pepper "egg bites".
A bit of drizzle on the way home but nothing here so we bundled the puppy kids into the car for their walk by the river. It wasn't as nice as yesterday's walks in the sun but it's still a nice walk.
I found out that The Navy Yard is the site of an old coal yard! The city fathers saw fit back in the day to reclaim the land and give us the beautiful park and gardens we have today!
All in all a good start to the day. I hope the same can be said for all of you too!

Good morning one and all! Sounds like a lot of you have things going on this morning to keep you out of trouble.

Kathie - I hope your procedure goes quickly and that you do get a coffee as a reward on the ride home.

Dave - Nice that you can get someone to pressure wash your house and fence. We also have to get someone to pressure wash our mission tile roof every couple of years. Being on water, it does start to turn black with mildew. Letters get sent out reminding you when it's time to clean your roof and if you don't get it done, you can be fined.

Lee - Your kabobs yesterday sounded so good. It's been years since I made them. You may have inspired me to find a recipe that sounds good for a kabob. Tonight G&E and company will be back for dinner. I invited Emily to come also, so we can give her her graduation present. Dinner tonight will be meatballs and sausage baked with penne pasta, which one of the kids requested.

We laugh when we get either gang over for dinner. They all leave with their own "goodie bag" of items of their choice. Ethan always takes a couple of red delicious apples and a couple of cans of soda. The others make sure they take some soda too. Same thing when M&J are here. All the "good stuff" is at Grandma & Grandpa's house. No whender they like to come over.
Elaine's 12 year old son told me last week that when he knows they are coming over for dinner that night, he has trouble focusing in school as he can't stop thinking about what kind of yummy food I'll be making! Talk about being a real kissa$$!!! LOL Tonight's dinner is his request. Good thing he's already on summer vacation!

Karen - How goes the pool setting up? Have you gals found anyone reliable yet to do the job?

Looks like I forgot to post this earlier. Oh well ... Good afternoon, everyone! :)

Good evening!

Kathie, hope all went well with your procedure today....although with some of your prior health history I'm a little worried it's more serious that you are letting on...Please don't keep us in the dark if it is...there have been to many health surprises in this group lately!

Lee, I saw on the news the other night that the "sample" ladies will be returning to Cosco soon....I think it was sometime this month...there will be restrictions & guidelines to follow, but it's nice to see one little piece of normal returning...

Pat, no rain here at all....it's been cloudy & teasing all afternoon...but I'm not very hopeful we'll see anything wet unless someone turns on their sprinkers....and ditto what Lee said...I've enjoyed many a meal at your house and you put out as much for an appetizer as some folks do for a meal!

Dave, regarding hiring someone to do chores that I used to do I just tell myself that with "age comes wisdom" and I've finally gotten old enough to realize I can do what I did at 35 anymore....doesn't stop me from being stupid sometimes & trying...

Still no luck on the pool set up...the guy is "supposed" to be coming tomorow...but we have our doubts...he hadn't returned Jane's calls or my FB messages....so yesterday we called him from my cell phone...he didn't answer so Jane left a message & within minutes he called back saying he'd missed a call from that number...he had no idea it was us because he never had my number..Jane explained she'd been trying to get in touch with him & he gave her the story that he'd been trying to call but the number wouldn't go thru...BS...he could have answered me on FB if that were the case
If he is a no show tomorrow there is a guy in Daytona Beach that travels to Ocala 4 days a week doing pools...he also builds decks...so Jane is going to try to contact him for a price...people just have no work ethic anymore & no consideration....if he had undbid the job as we suspect he could have been honest & said I made a mistake...I can't do it for the price I said...we would have understood & depending on how much more he was charging would have probably had him do the work just to get it done..
Got some pool time in Monday & today with my sisters...the pool is just about the perfect temp right now...we don't know what that temp is cause someone stole the new pool thermometer...but it's just cool enough to be refreshing without being a shock going in...
Hope you all have a great evening...I probably won't be on tomorrow...I have to go to Wendy's again...then I'll be working at Jane's after that putting up one of those sun "sail" shade things over her patio...Amanda & co are due in tomorrow too...but that probably won't be until late in the evening...catch up with you all either Fri or Sat...

No sample ladies any time soon here Karen! It’s another 12 days until we enter stage one of Ontario’s reopening.
I sure hope that you find a reliable pool guy. This fella would have more respect if, like you think, he misquoted and fessed up to it.
A break in the rain so I’m going to run the pups to the yard.
See you all tomorrow!

Good WET evening gang.
Thanks for all your WELL WISHES. I'm doing good. Karen......nothing serious really. I had a good team of nurses and the doctor is a female and I think a lot of her.

Karen: Not sure you'll see this in time, but I would make SURE that JANE DOES NOT PAY THIS POOL guy a dime until he's done. He could moan and groan all he wants, but after not calling you all back I'd be VERY LEARY of him skipping out if you gave him any money up front.
I'd call him and tell him hit the road Jack. But then that's just me.

Lee: Good job on getting to Costco early. I feel so badly for your area still being on LOCKDOWN. Over here on our side of the Detroit River things are opening up WAY TOO FAST in my estimation. You watch, I bet we'll see a UP SURGE of more deaths and cases of Covid within the next 2 months and go on lock down again. People just don't get it at all.
Here at our Costco's they have a few Food Ladies back at their stations. They put the chips, and pretzels and nut samples in a small white paper bag. Funny how you get away from those samples and now I'm not sure I'd be that interested in them anymore.
Glad the pups got a walk this morning.

We have a LIGHT RAIN going on here since late this afternoon. The lawn man still was able to cut the grass. He's one heck of a hard working guy.

PAT:
You'll have to let us know if Emily actually made it over to get her LOOT for graduation. I'm thinking this is the last you'll see of her for a long time.
Any news on finding Cappi a new place to live yet? I feel bad that you have to go through these decisions.

DAVE: So how did the POWER WASHING go on the house today? If I were doing the power washing I would start at the TOP of the house and work my way down to the bottom. At the end I'd do another spray around the whole place to make sure all the dirt and grime was washed off. I'd be interested in knowing if he used a PRE-SOAK type of solution to get the GRIME loosened up before hitting it with the POWER WASHER. Kind of like when you go through the car wash. (But you don't go through car washes, so you wouldn't know about that) Ha Ha.

Okay folks, I'm off to hit the couch. I feel good, but this damp rainy cloudy evening is making me tired.

You all take care and as they say in the movies.........I'LL BE BACK!

Kathie, thanks for the update! Glad to hear all went well! And trust me...Jane will not be paying anybody up front for doing the pool install...to many fly by night people here who take your money & never return....she is really kind of hoping the guy doesn't show tomorrow, she said now she doesn't really trust him to do a good job....

Had a little tease of thunder, dark skies & wind...but not 1 drop of rain...Jane had called me around 5:30 and she had gotten a little bit of rain at her house. Fedex FINALLY delivered her pool steps sometime this evening....she never heard them come up to the house & Hansel never made a peep....I told her he was pouting because she didn't give him her extra chicken sandwich from Burger King today...

Night from Belleview....sure is hot & muggy here tonite!
