Bert is doing the right thing to get fuel for the generator. That should ensure that you won't need it.
Lee - We got the generator when we first built the house 18 years ago. We had our electrician do all the necessary wiring and connections needed. Since then, we have NEVER used it! I know darn well that if we sold it, for sure we would need it right after that!!

Nancy, sorry about your Vertigo. If you have any Allergy Pills take them as directed and it might help you out. It always worked for me. OR AT LEAST HELPED. Just rest and don't move around too much.

Pat, Karen, Nancy: I sure hope that the latest hurricane MISSES ALL of you Florida Belles. Seems like they keep showing it hitting Tampa on the Gulf. Good luck kiddo's.

BB: Time to gather those plants from the Laiani. Every little thing you can get out of the way will help when the BIG STUFF has to get secured.

PAT & Lee: Thanks for the Anniv wishes. Seems like it was just YESTERDAY.... HA HA!

Lee: I forgot all about the GAS FIREPLACE. I'm turning that on to get the damp feeling out of this place. I put on a sweatshirt and with my hot coffee I'm pretty comfortable.
I have a running challenge with my brother that lives not far from us as to which one of us will turn our HEAT on for the SEASON FIRST! He usually wins. :D
Hope you and your company have a nice time tonight.

I'm out of here and going to make us a small batch of RICE PUDDING. Milk was on SALE the other day and I bought it. I don't usually buy WHOLE MILK. I'm a 1/2% or 1% fan. Art doesn't drink milk.

Later gang. BE SAFE

Sure will be interesting to hear what BILL/RITA have to say about the last few days of their cruise. I'm sure Fiona sure made it interesting.

Happy belated anniversary K2! 56 years. Since 1966.

As you said BB;
"It was either a good year or we all just put up with each other's weirdness!!" It also probably didn't hurt that Art is hard of hearing.

Ain't no way I'm sitting around in my house covered with a blanket, instead of just turning up the thermostat a degree or 2.

Any update on the Caddie's air conditioner, BB?

Lee; Liked your video of Mister Rodgers. If I remember right, he was a preacher too. I must be looking at the wrong maps, because it sure looks like K2 is a lot closer to you than I am. Unless there is a bridge across Lake Erie that I don't know about.

Yesterday was a mill-around-smartly day for Kathi and I. We got caught up on a few shows we had recorded last week. "Survivor", "The Amazing Race", and last Sunday's "CBS News Sunday Morning". I got a kick out of one of their news segments. It was, of all things, on the Boll Weevil. A bug that ruined a lot of cotton farmers, years ago. They even teased this song,

A late good morning. Got a good nights sleep and have unpacked the small suitcases we used and one of the large ones. Have a load of laundry going and will do a second in a bit.

Took a home test this morning and am positive for Covid. And of course I am feeling better today. But I did cancel my bloodwork for tomorrow and tomorrow will cancel my MRI. Have to call the Dr about a couple of Rx's so will ask how soon to retest. Bruce will test in a bit.

All have a great day.

Good morning, everyone! It's a beautiful morning with the temp in the low 80s. Ah, fall in Florida!! No turning off the AC though. It's still very humid.

Dave - Caddy update: Not sure what Jimmy did, but the AC was working yesterday. It's all good as long as we don't change the temperature in the car. We have to leave it at 70. Jimmy also suggested that this might be a good time to sell before the AC conks out again. :)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane with that song. I always liked that one.

Kathie - Sounds like you and Art had a very special day. Good for you! You still wrapped in a blanket?

Nancy - Sorry to hear that you were positive for Covid. I think that happens when you've been on a plane. Just about everyone I know who has flown anywhere got Covid shortly after they got home. Feel better soon.

Just got a call from Gary. He and Loni, as well as their kids are all coming for the day. They will be here in about an hour and a half, so I better get off here and figure out how I'm going to feed 7 additional people on short notice.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Good AFTERNOON!
No blankets here today. I have a sweatshirt on. Tomorrow we will drive over to the shoppe of the company that did the remodel on our fireplace a few years ago. We want to have them show us EXACTLY how to lite the pilot on the logs. It got shut off when the kitchen was being worked on, (The Gas line that is). Art has the instructions, but because it’s GAS I said we need to make sure we do it correctly. I don’t feel like blowing up this place just yet!
ALWAYS SOMETHING! Better safe than sorry. The place is only 5 mins from our house.

BB: I hate to say it, but I bet Bert will just wait until something else goes wrong with the Caddi before he even thinks of getting something newer. Good luck. Nice that Jimmy could do a temp fix on the A/C.

All the best feeding all those people. And who is Loni? Gary have a girlfriend? Ha ha. Maybe it’s his sister Lori??

Dave: I think you’re right about Art being hard of hearing. Ha ha.

Nancy: Bummer on getting Covid. Hope you ask for that new med I see them telling people to get as soon as they test positive. Ask your doctor about it. Needs to be taken as soon as possible according to the message on TV. All the best to you both.

Between the Airplanes and the Ship and all the other places and people you were around it figures you and a whole lot of folks are walking around with Covid. Some will quarantine and others will just be SPREADERS!
Another reason I wear my MASK, you never know who has it and just think they have the sniffles! Hope it’s a mild case.
Ships are like a Petri-Dish for spreading Covid.
Hope Bill/Rita don’t get it. Hope they do the home test.

Later we will be celebrating Jill’s Birthday (it’s actually tomorrow) at her favorite restaurant. Fun and Scary at the same time. Just another CHANCE to get Covid. Hope the restaurant we’re going to has a corner table! Ha ha.

It’s 63F and somewhat sunny On and off.

Enjoy your day folks. Stay safe and healthy too.

The day started with rain, then sun and back to rain. We went out to Leamington, about 30 minutes south, and Lu-Ann picked up some punkin's and mums to add a little colour to the front of the house.
I also hope that you're feeling better and it's a mild bout of covid Nancy. We get home test kits for free so the rule of thumb here is if you don't like the results today try again tomorrow. Seems they're not the most accurate...
I reckon that I'd trust Art to know how to properly relight the pilot for your fireplace Kathie. Say, what's the word on the chandelier at your church? Very few voices were / are as smooth as Andy Williams. I'm pretty sure that Gary's 'Elaine" goes by "Loni".
That's a good news bad news prognosis for the AC in the Caddy Pat. Even if you folks do take in for a trade in you can bet that the dealer will give it a good going over and flip all the knobs and switches. I love the forecast for Ian's track and strength. "Significant Uncertainty". Well doesn't that give you a warm and fuzzy feeling!
Such a distinct voice Dave. I meant Brook Benton but you too have a very distinct tone. Right you are about Fred Rogers being a Presbyterian minister. Mr. Rogers went to Rollins College in Florida. A few years back we took a self guided tour of the campus and all things "Fred". We enjoy TAR. TAR Canada just wrapped up and TAR has started south of the border. One half of the team that won TAR Canada this year is from Harrow. That's another little town about 15 minutes south.
Hopefully Bill and Rita aren't bobbing around too much!
It's clearing here so I think that we're gonna try to get our walk in.
Have a great rest of your Sunday and we'll see you tomorrow.

ME AGAIN! :emoticon 0115 inlove:

So, I'm doing bills right now and come across the GAS COMPANY BILL. Okay! I see it's $34.39 for the billing period of a month. Okay! Then I look it over........WOW.....

$13.34 = Actual Gas Used
$ 21.05 = Tax and various add-on charges (MRP, IRIP, Dist Chg, Demand Charge, Sales Tax)
_________
$34.39 CRAZY is all I can say.

Jill just called and said we'll be going to a DIFFERENT FAVORITE restaurant for dinner. WHY????
The chef at the 1st place is sick and they closed the place down because he's the HEAD CHEF!
I think he might just have Covid and they're not taking any chances. But then that's just the worry-wort me thinking out loud! Ha Ha. At this point I'd really like to stay home. :emoticon 0104 surprised:

Lee: We just got a CLOUD BURST in our area for 5 mins. Strange day. The temps aren't too bad out there, but they'll drop again tonight. My poor Impatients are just hanging on these last few nights!
And YES, I think Art could like that PILOT on the fireplace too, but I'm not up to guessing at this point in my life. It's a quick ride to the shoppe!

Okay, off to dinner we go!

In Boston for the start of our second cruise. Fiona made it Impossible for the ship to tender in Bar Harbor but it is our first stop tomorrow, sea conditions permitting. Ship rode the seas very comfortably so, if you weren't out on the windy decks or looking at the white caps, you might not know there was a hurricane in the vicinity. For this cruise we have moved to a room on deck 12 with great floor to ceiling windows .
Internet service has been very spotty so I am not sure how often I will be online before we get home next Sunday. Hope everyone is well.

So we went for the Birthday/ Anniversary combined dinner. The place we went to was FANTASTIC! Excellent menu and great tasty food. The gang was happy!

So JILL had both Art and I close our eyes and hold out our hand and out a piece of paper in each of our hands. She then said this is joinging our family SOON! And before she said to OPEN OUR EYES I said “ Are you getting a dog”? And they all said OPEN YOUR YES…..and YES, they are getting a puppy! Wow! We’ve lived long enough to have a GRANDPUPPY! Ha ha.
A Golden Poodle Mini. 8 wks old. They get it Oct 6th. It’s in “Doggie Pre-School“ right now getting trained for all kinds of things. The one breeder takes her home and has her on a schedule Maxwell’s have given her. So she should be able to stay in the crate without whimpering and go to sleep at the time they go to sleep and be backyard trained, etc. Don’t even ask how much this cost. Ha ha. I guess Jill has secretly (from us) been saving up to buy this breed of dog For awhile now. Bless this child! The kids are beside themselves, especially Ashley.
Now we can dog-sit and GIVE IT BACK to them and not have all the expense and worries of of ownership of a puppy! It’s a MALE named Mani.

He is a cutie. Should weigh out to a 15-18 pounds when grown! These are pictures of them visiting Mani last week!

Okay, I’m out of here. Have a good Monday all.

Happy Mondays Beach GIF by Yevbel
Rise and Shine Wrabbits. It's overcast and a COLD 54F here in Pure Michigan. It's times like this that I wish we would have bought a place on the Gulf somewhere in Florida about 40 years ago!

Hope all is okay with our usual 1st of the morning DAVE. Not like him to miss a morning post.

Nancy: Hope you are feeling okay and still testing for that nasty Covid. Did Bruce test? Hate to see him walking around before he tests.

Safe cruising to Bill/Rita.

Hope you Florida Wrabbits are bringing in your plants and outdoor furniture just in case this "IAN" hurricane decides to pay you a visit. Take care.

Art went to get his Allergy shot and I'm off to fill up my coffee cup with some HOT JAVA.

Today is Jill's actual Birthday! We celebrated yesterday.

Later gang..........

A very late good morning. Got a good full night's sleep.

Had Bruce test yesterday morning and he too is positive. So have changed his Dr appt tomorrow to a Duo call. When I talked with office they said to take cold meds which we are doing, and to take it easy.

Since we did not have any cold meds in the house I had to go to the store yesterday and I doubled masked, as I know that masks mainly help you from spreading Covid. And I tried my best to not get too close to anyone.

Called in for two new Rx's, changed Bruce's appt tomorrow to a Duo meeting, canceled my MRI. Only call I have not made is to the hearing place about the left aide as I want to be sure the right one works all day. The left one has not worked since I did not wear it in Skagway for the Gold Rush excursion or the next day in Icy Strait Point for the Whale Watching excursion. Both of which were great. On the Whale watching we say 4 or 5 pods of Orca's and 3 or 4 pods of Humpback's. So nice to see both in one tour.

Have to figure out when we should retest for Covid. I started with it last Tuesday and Bruce on Thursday or maybe Wednesday.

Max has no school this week as Hillsborough decided to close the schools and get ready should the need be there for evacuations.

All have a great day.

Good afternoon! Another pretty morning here in our neck of the woods! I'm not so sure I'll be saying that later in the week thanks to Ian.

Nancy - Sorry to hear that Bruce also tested positive for Covid. Both of you need to rest and take care of yourselves.

Kathie - Glad you had a nice birthday/anniversary dinner with Jill and company. That puppy is absolutely adorable. By the way, Bert brought that singlecare card to the pharmacy the other day. The pharmacist tried for almost half and hour, but could not use it. Had something to do with

Good afternoon!
I think that Jill needs another pup. She could call him ”Pedi”. The “pun” will come around if you put their names together. Mani is one cute little pup.

Had something to do with
…with what Momma Bunny? The suspense is driving me crazy! Not that it’s a long drive.
How lucky that you got to see and appreciate the whales Nancy. Just plain unlucky with the vertigo, Covid and hearing aid stuff. All of which will get sorted in good time.
Hmmm. Wonder if Dave went looking for Karen?
Uke lesson was fun. We’ve graduated to a couple of simple songs after “mastering“ 5 notes on two strings. :p I’m waiting for the cardiologist to call between 11:15 and 3:00. Lu-Ann has her coronation to attend at 2:30. It will be a right proper Royal affair at the dentist as she is being fitted with her crown.
All of you good folks, especially The Florida Belles and their families, stay safe.

OMG! I never intended to post only a partial message, but I guess when I shut the cover down on the laptop for lunch, I must have hit the post reply button.

As I was saying before I rudely interrupted myself ... I couldn't use the card as it had something to do with having a supplemental insurance plan. Oh well, it was worth a try. Turns out that the $500.+ cost for the Jardiance is for a 3 month supply. So that's not too bad. I have other meds in the same price range at this time of the year.

As Lee pointed out, Loni is what everyone calls Gary's wife instead of Elaine. Actually, Elaine is her middle name, so go figure?

WOW! Can that gang eat! We put out a big bowl of mixed nuts, M&Ms, raisins, etc for everyone to snack on. By the time they left, there was hardly anything there. We also made a charcuterie board that Bert had to do a second time. They ate it all. I made 2 9x12 pans of chicken pot pie, plus a full sheet pan of french fries. There's enough left for us to have for dinner tonight. As Bert pointed out, it's a good thing they stopped at McDonald's on the way to our house or they would have eaten everything.

Now it's time to head out of here for a bit. Then it's going to be time, whether we like it or not, to start bringing in things from the lanai. We are already under a tropical storm watch, so we need to at least start bringing in plants and anything else that could become a projectile. If Bert doesn't get started on this, M&J will come over after work and do it.

Oh Karen ... Where are you??????

Hi Wrabbits!

Some of this morning's posts were downright funny.
Lee: Loved the Cornonation reference for Lu-Ann's crowning! Too funny. Getting crowns these days has really become easy and painless. It's making sure that when they put the
permanent crown in that it's NOT TOO HIGH and you end up with TMJ from your jaw being out-of-line. I do a LOT of TAP, TAP, TAPPING with that purple paper the dentist uses to see if it's hitting too high or not. I must drive the poor guy nuts when I get a final crown. Only because I have had TMJ and the vertigo is enough to make you want to scream! Love the "Pedi" vs "Mani" reference. Too funny. I'll have to pass that onto Jill.

3:26 pm and LIGHT RAIN going on with WIND too. Just plain old ugly outside. And guess who left their cars in the driveway.......yup both of us. We were cleaning parts of the garage and left them outside.

Drove over to the Fireplace contractors office and he pointed out just what to do to light that pilot. He said we were on the right track and it's ALWAYS GOOD TO BE SURE when you're dealing with GAS. Came home and used one of those long matches and pushed the knob in where he told us to and we have a PILOT and then we had FLAMES to take the dampness out of the family room. LIFE IS GOOD!

Nancy: Sorry to hear that Bruce tested positive too. Take care and rest. Major pain in the cancelling all those appts.

PAT: I saw a video a family posted of that WEATHER GUY that always is at the hurricane areas broadcasting. Well, he was setting up at CLEARWATER to do a on the spot report and this family was able to video tape him talking to them and them asking him all kinds of questions. He said Ian is coming. Good that you and Bert are bringing in the plants early. No use waiting until the WINDS are blowing. Does your Lanai drain pretty good from when it gets blowing rains inside of it?
I like the name LONI for Elaine. How is their house re-construction coming along?
Time for a Mother-in-laws supervisor visit! Ha Ha.

Out of here to do some paperwork that has been calling my name for a few days.
