Good morning. We are going to check out a recliner that a lady Bruce does work for has to give away. Then we are going to Lowe's and BJ's

Supposed to rain this afternoon

All have a great day.

Good morning, everyone! As Nancy said, once again rain is expected this afternoon.

Dave - Sorry Kathi's first attempt at hot dog rolls didn't work. Better luck next time. The AC in the Caddy is working just fine. With the temps we've been having, without AC in the car, I'd never get in the car.

Kathie - So sorry to hear the news about your brother and sister-in-law. Glad you were able to get to see them a few days ago. At this point in our lives, you just don't know what each day is going to bring. Just have to be thankful for each day we have.

Lee - Good for you helping the garbageman load up the truck. I'm sure he appreciated the help. I hope you and Lu-Ann had fun playing ping pong.Still waiting to see pictures of the finished basement. Hint hint!!

Karen - I bet you're glad VBS is over and done with. Most kids today get away with murder when it cmes to discipline. Parents are so slack and would rather be their child's buddy than parent. Glad you kept your little darlings in line.

Bill - Nice way you looked at the end of Blacklist. Bert & I were talking last night and said that wouldn't it be great, if they came up with a new series with basically all the actors continuing in their rolls. Even without Redington, it would be a great cast who would have entirely different type cases. I don't expect that it will happen though.

Part of our day worked the way we had planned. Went to Leesburg for the oil change and got the tires rotated. Also had them wash the car. Then we went to the German bakery and loaded up on our favorite treats. From there we started heading home. Within a few miles, we knew the car wash had been a waste of time. We ran into heavy rain while on the turnpike. Then once off the turnpike we ran into heavy traffic on every road we had to go on. Bert really overdid it w ith having to keep going from gas to brake every few seconds. We decided to skip DiCarlo's last night and hope to get there tonight. Time will tell.

Beyond that, there's not much we have planned for today. Probably won't be seeing any of the kids this weekend, so looks like it's just going to be Bert and I doing our thing. Hopefully, the rains will hold off long enough for us to get some time out on the lanai, if it's not too terribly hot and humid.

Bert's off to Publix, so I guess I should start getting out the things we need for lunch. Have a wonderful day, gang!

We have been very fortunate to have missed the horrific flooding that has occurred in western MA, and NH and VT, but for two straight nights we have been awakened at about 5 am to very loud booms of thunder that seemed to be right overhead. We took a drive yesterday that took us through areas with lots of gray clouds and occasional rain but by the time we were heading back home it was bright and sunny. With all the rain we have been experiencing, I have to wonder how long it will be before the powers that be announce continued bans on outside watering and the restrictions on water use.
Nice to see that the Powerball payout has reached the level where we will all consider buying a ticket. It seems clear that no potential payout of less than 500million$ is worthy of our attention and certainly not spending $2 for.

As good as that group on Blacklist is, I really can't see them continuing without a character as outrageously unique as Reddington that would make it any different than all of the other law enforcement shows that are currently on the air.

Getting the Caddy washed was clearly the reason for all the rain you encountered. It never seems to fail when we get one of our cars washed.
We don't have Netflix but I have read the Lincoln Lawyer books and have heard others mention that the TV series is well worth watching.

It sure is Wet, Wet, Wet. Isn’t that a band. Let me look. Yep. Here’s the tune from the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral…

They do look like Subway buns!
I think you hit the appeal of Blacklist on the head Bill. It was, in the beginning and apparently in the last season, different.
What a good looking crew you have there Karen! It’s easy to figure out who Crew 2‘s class clown was!
I’m reworking the shelves in the “Harry Potter” door Pat. I have to trim the new ones to fit and instal right proper shelf clips. Then, maybe, pictures.
My gosh Kathie, the universe is certainly throwing everything at you all at once. Ice cream does make things better, doesn’t it. I got a kick out of baking bread in the mailbox. A project for Art?
Funny about the C vs F temperature Dave. One year in FL our friends were in a rental owned and frequently used by Brits. The default on their oven was set to C and poor Patti couldn’t get anything to bake or cook properly. Then “we” figured it out…
How did the look at the recliner go Nancy? The Indy Guys are down the road, OK, 4 hours down the road in Toronto. The session I saw had them sliding around on full wets!
Almost time to try to convince Ava to go out. We did get our morning walk in a tad later than usual but her trip to The Navy Yard was rained ou
Take care everyone.

Dave: Those BUNS look great. How much bigger were they when they came out of the oven?? (The picture says that was BEFORE they came out of the oven!)
What does the silicone gizmo look like that she ordered??

Pat: Bert needs to cut back on all this driving. Hate to see him get scar tissue issues from over doing it!

Lee: ICE CREAM is a life saver at stressful times. It’s even better when ON SALE!

Karen: It’s the little monster in the front that would be a handful. Looks like a nice group. You look great!

Picked our first Michigan tomato’s from the cherry tomato plants tonight. They were so good!

No church for our choir tomorrow. Yippee! I get to watch NOVAK hopefully WIN his Tennis match tomorrow! So proud of that Serbian tennis champion.

Night all. Finally dry over here.

Good evening. Well we took the chair, it is nice. It is a tan leather and in great shape, she has to get a new chair with the lift as she can't get out of this one anymore. Of course now we have to get rid of one chair. Tomorrow I will take a photo and put it on Facebook.

My right hand is hurting so much I decided to get pizza for dinner since it is very hard to do anything with the hand.

All have a good night.

SUCCESS in the Bunny-Kitchen!

THIS TIME the whole wheat hot dog buns came out as we hoped for. Normal sized hot dog buns like you'd find at the grocery store. The picture Kathi posted was from the 1st try before they went in the oven, and they were sitting in the tray at the time. She's learned to see if the oven temperature in the recipe is for Celsius or Fahrenheit, and also that the whole wheat recipe she was using makes twice as many hot dog buns as it says. So on try #2 she put a lot less dough in the forms. Now we've got 6 buns to use and another 6 to freeze.

K2; That Amazon picture you posted looks like the one. The picture of the lady baking bread in her mailbox was hilarious.

Yes KC, no doubt who the wise-guy in your VBS class was. BUT "crew #2" STILL turned out to be the best crew.

Out of gas now, and heading back to the sack.

Wow, I've been up so early that it feels like NOON already and it's only 9:45 a.m. !

Dave: Thanks for the explanation on the "Hot Dog Buns". Good to know they turned out good the second time around. And now you have 6 extra for another time. Kudo's to Kathi! We had Hot Dogs for dinner last night with some sides. Thought of Kathi's hot dog buns when we ate our not as good looking ones! :emoticon 0100 smile:

So far this morning I wrapped a 80th Birthday present for my best friend Elaine. It's a Glass colored bird on a metal stick that glows at night from a solar gizmo attached to it. I have 2 of them and love them. You stick it in the ground and you can see it glow from close or far away. Since Elaine is a Bird lover, I'm sure she'll enjoy it. Not easy trying to buy something useful for a 80th birthday.

After doing the wrapping I mixed up a new recipe for "Chewy Choc Brownie Cookies". It started with a Brownie Box mix and you added ingredients from there. I'll let you know how they turn out. The dough is in the refrigerator getting cold before scooping out and baking.

Today the weather folks are telling us our CANADIAN NEIGHBORS are sending more 'smokey air' down our way. Joy, Joy. You can see the haze in the sky. I just hope it's not as bad as the first wave we got a few weeks ago.

Good morning. Today we are going to Total Wines and More, lunch at Longhorn Steak House and BJ's again, with coupons this time. And then watch the race.

The photo's of the lady baking in the mailbox are a hoax. She has said she wanted to show someone just how hot it is where she lives and thought that would be a cute idea. And did not realize how far the photos would go.

All have a great day.

Cookies turned out to be good. Fudgy Brownie Cookies. Easy-quick recipe!

Djokovic is not doing good today at the Tennis game! The 20 yr old is doing a good job holding his own.

80F and VERY HUMID here now.

Happy Sunday, everyone! As usual, nothing planned around here today, but you never know.
Yesterday was supposed to be a quiet day also, but M&J sort of changed that around. They "accidently" bought 40 lbs of boneless chicken thighs. How that happened is a long story, but they asked if we wanted any. Of course we said yes and bought 10 lbs from them. They also bought a full head of filet mignon which they conveniently brought over for Bert to cut for them. He did a great job and they now have a pile of filets to cook on the grill. Afterwards Bert cut any fat from the chicken thighs and we now have 8 bags of thighs in the freezer. More yummy dinners ahead.
After they left, Bert & I finally went to DiCarlo's for dinner. As usual, it was delicious and we have lots of leftovers for tonight.
I think I told you that Elaine's son is getting married. Well, we got the "Save the Date" card yesterday with all sorts of information about the wedding. Talk about a Hoity Toity affair! Would someone please explain to me what FRENCH COUNTRYSIDE ATTIRE is? That's the dress for guests to wear. It's apparently one step below formal for women. Men just wear a dress shirt and pants. The wedding ceremony & reception are being held at a place called The White Room (Is that racist?) in St Augustine. I checked out their site and all I can say is $$$$$$! Good thing the bride's father is a surgeon. He's going to have to raise his prices to pay for this wedding. From what I can figure out, we're going to look like a bunch of country bumpkins. Just don't or can't put on the airs any longer!
There's a bridal shower for the couple at G&E's house next month for about 50 people. Not sure where they're going to put everyone, but it's a good thing that they have a pool. The middle of August in Melbourne Beach can be hotter than he!!. I already ordered a gift for them, but we might not go. Depends on what time the party is, as it's an almost 2 hour drive in each direction.

Karen - That's a fine looking group you had, even with the clown in front! I'm sure you had a glass or wine or 2 after that last session.

Dave - Glad the second batch of hot dog rolls turned out the way they were supposed to. Good for Kathi getting it right the second time and nice that you have some to freeze.

Lee - I hope your weather today is better than yesterday. Did I tell you that G&E have a hidden room too? They put it in when they did the renovations on their house. Being it's upstairs, I can't get to see it, but I did see pictures of it and it looks cool.

Kathie - Your cookies sound interesting. How do they taste? Did they get Art's approval? Sorry you're going to be getting more Canadian smoke today. Saw a picture yesterday of all the fires burning in Canada. Absolutely unreal! You'll have to keep the house closed up and the AC running.

Nancy - Hope you bought something good at Total Wines. You can really get lost there and spend way too much money. Enjoy the race.

Time for some lunch. Have a super afternoon, everyone!

Hey, don’t blame me. Pat mentioned “Country Bumpkin”. I only remembered the tune.
Not much going on here today. Overcast but, so far, no rain. We made it to “How much is this gonna“ COSTCO. Could have been worse.
Fudgy Brownie Cookies. Those are three of my favourite words Kathie. Especially when they’re all in one! The rest of season two of The Lincoln Lawyer comes out on August 3. We also watched “Treason” on Netflix. That was good as well.
I'm with Pat on Total Wines Nancy. A great store with an amazing selection of wines at all prices.
Ya Dave, that one little dude in crew #2 cracked me up. I bet one of those big honkin’ COSTCO hot dogs would be mighty fine in Kathi‘s hot dog buns!
Subie acted up a tad yesterday. The big display screen went black and we lost “eyesight” and “reverse automatic braking”. I got home and looked on the My Subaru diagnostic app and sure enough, there was a problem. Then I got an email that Subaru, or should I say big brother” had detected the above issues. I called Subaru and spoke to a really nice lady. Seems Subie decided that a software update was required. The vehicle was still safe to drive. But an update as we were leaving the grocery store! All was well this morning, including the diagnostics on the app, but I’m still gonna’ call the dealership in the morning and ask how to ensure that doesn’t happen unless I initiate it.
That’s about it from this side of the 49th parallel.
Hi to everyone else and, well, sorry about the smoke again, eh.

LEE: Sorry, but that country song gets a BIG THUMBS DOWN from me. How you come up with these songs is beyond me. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Pat: All I can say is that's a LOT of CHICKEN to process. And I haven't a Filet in I can't remember when! At $22 + bucks a pound it's not happening for us. You don't even get Filet served at wedding receptions anymore. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

A/C is on and Windows are closed. 84F now. I can't imagine how the people in Phoenix are handling their 110F plus temps. And all the other states too. Whew....I guess I can't complain about our temps.

Our Serbian Novak DIDN'T WIN the Wimpleton tennis match today. Tried, but just wasn't his day. Too many bad mistakes.

The Cookies came out good. Chewy like a brownie with a slight crisp on the outside. Art, of course, LOVED THEM. I'm not the biggest Choc Cookie fan, so I can take them or leave them.
The nice thing was they were easy to make since you started with a Brownie Box mix and just added flour, eggs, water and Choc Chips. I used Mini Choc Chips. Made them smaller than the recipe called for and got 50. I call them 3 bite cookies! Ha Ha.

Took a nice long shower, did my hair and as soon as Art comes in from digging around the side of the house and cleans up we'll be going somewhere "easy going" to eat tonight.

Lee: I did see that "Lincoln Lawyer" will add rest of the Season 2 on Aug 3rd. Yippee.
Thanks for the heads up on TREASON. I'll be looking that up.

FYI: Sister-in-law was moved to ICU yesterday after her dialysis due to her blood pressure dropping WAY TOO LOW. The woman just can't get a break. Sure glad we got to see her last week while she was still looking pretty good.

Out of here for now. Hope you all are having a good Sunday.

By the way, I got my 2nd Mosquito bite yesterday while trimming some flowers that got bent over from the wind and rain we had.
It's right on my CHIN BONE on the left side. Itches every so often and feels like the size of a quarter. Those darn mosquitos just love me.

Good evening!

Sorry Kathie, my 2 thumbs up over rides your thumbs down on Lee's song. That's a golden oldie Country song from probably 30 yrs ago.
So sorry to hear your Sil is failing so quickly.

Lee, that would be freaky having Subie doing random upgrades and knocking out systems in the process.

Pat, from the sounds of the bridal shower & wedding info I think I'd send a gift to both & just skip the events, sounds like a lot of mucky muck fancy people to me.

Dave, glad to hear Kathi 2nd batch of hot dog buns was a success!

Ya'all guessed right that Jordan was my challenge child, but once I figured out he didn't like things around his neck & started pining his name tag to his shirt things went a lot smoother.
I've been fighting a sore tooth all this week on top of everything else & finally broke down & went to our stand alone ER here in Belleview this afternoon. My jaw was starting to feel tingly & swollen so I figured it would be a good idea to get it checked. I was pleasantly surprised to be in & out of the place in less than an hour. They gave me a prescription for antibiotics & 1 for pain meds. Took them to Publix to be filled and another pleasant surprise $0 co-pay. Now I just hope they get to work quick!

Pat, I had to google FRENCH COUNTRY ATTIRE and found this: The French countryside, especially in Provence, is very casual. Pants, tees, jackets and a short boot or sneaker will take you just about anywhere you want to go. The dress is easy and the beauty of a French country weekend is it's relaxed. May 12, 2016 So it really is even an step down from Cocktail attire.

Trip to Total wine Bruce got 3 different rums and we also got a couple bottles of Margarita Mix and I got a bottle of pickle in olive for Bloody Mary's.

Karen: I’m not a big fan of the older REAL country type music. I can handle the newer stuff at times! :D
Bummer about your tooth. Hope the meds work. Good thing you went to the clinic.

Tried to post a video of Manny (dog) swimming in the lake at the cottage. It didn’t work. Looks like he had fun!
