As Kathie said it is a beautiful spring day here. 56F and bright sunshine. Stop by later and let us know where the day took you. We did get a little yard work done this morning and early afternoon.
Consensus from the gang is that we will be watching the eclipse from the comfort of Jan and Dave's back yard. They have the least obstructed view, we can have snacks, adult beverages and most important, they have a washroom! Ya gotta consider that stuff as you "mature".
The last time we planted a few tomatoes in a pot the only benefit was to the critters Mike!
Did anyone else hear that? I think it was a glass of wine calling me. ;)

OKAY WRABBITS I have some pictures for you all and a story to go with it.
LISTEN UP LEE! Ha ha

I found my Passport and wanted to make sure I knew how to get to the Serbian centre in Windsor for the May concert.
Filled the car w/gas and hit the road. Took 1hr 38 mins to get to the tunnel. 20 more mins to get through the tunnel. 10 more mins waiting for the “shift change” of officers to happen. Duh! Got through in a snap after the relief guy got in the booth.
“WAZE” did a round-about way of getting me to the destination, but it was by way of Riverside Dr and I got to enjoy glancing at the Detroit River every once in a while.

Then I decided as long as J was in Canada I would try and see if I could find Lee’s NAVY PARK! Well, I found it! Took a few pictures, walked around the town and even popped into a few stores. I was going to buy a bag of Carmel Corn in the Popcorn store. but when the young man rang it up it was $12.50 something. I told him I changed my mind. Just too much for my budget!
I went into the Bookstore. Really cute place. Saw the Salty Dog restaurant. People were eating outside.
I wish I had your address or phone number to call you guys. Next time!:D

Then I drove close enough to see the Gordie Howe bridge in the distance. Amazing structure.
Also found my way to where you get on the BobLo Ferry to BobLo Island. It was just taking off.
I did see a huge freighter on my travels. It was not the size or stacked with containers like the one that crashed into the bridge in Baltimore area. But you could just see how that bridge crumbled from just looking at this huge one passing close by me. WOW.

Used the Waze directions to get me back to the Windsor area. It directed me to take the AMBASSADOR BRIDGE back home, but I didn’t like that idea so I just went back towards the tunnel.
So that’s my interesting day. 84 miles and 2/4 tank of fresh gas used up! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of my adventure.

A FEW MORE PICTURES.
The last picture is of the AMBASSADOR BRIDGE!

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
And I was amazed at just how many Tim Horton coffee shoppes were around. Like almost every corner!

This may sound like a conspiracy theory Lee; But from what I've read it sounds like Michigander K2 got away from her husband yesterday, and stalked you in your own hometown in Canada. :) And did you see the picture of the gun she was packing?

Mike; We too aren't going anywhere on Monday, the day of the total eclipse. In our area they've upgraded our chance to see it. Now it's a toss up as to whether it'll be overcast or partially cloudy. It'll be still interesting to just see the day turn dark around 3:10 in the afternoon.

Since I know the owner I've gotten us reserved seats, for whatever happens, in our back yard.

Oh Kathie, you were not even 10 minutes from us! I hope you enjoyed your trip to Amherstburg. The rhododendrons are just starting to pop. The south end of The Navy Yard is undergoing a renovation and expansion. The parks folks haven’t been out to do the spring cleanup yet. You did see most of the downtown sights. That must have been a larger bag of popcorn. The smaller ones are less expensive. You should have popped in to the ice cream shop. They’ve just opened for the season. Good ice cream and not as pricey as popcorn. By driving along Riverside Dr you passed the sculpture garden. One of your pics had an apple sculpture in it. Darned right “next time!”.
Ya Dave, we leave a bunch of those big guns just sitting in the park and a couple of blocks away at The Fort.
I’m out of stuff for now.
Enjoy your day folks.

Boy, is Kathie in trouble with Lu-Ann. I showed her your post and she was "What! That close and didn't call or text or Facebook message us". Contrary to popular beliefs in some parts of The US, we don't all live in igloos and get our power from "currant bushes". "Welcome to Canada nice Michigan lady. Where ya goin', eh?" The funniest thing would have been if you had our back yard neighbours, Mark or Danielle, in the booth. They are both CBSA agents. If you said you were going to Amherstburg Mark would likely have asked you if you knew anyone. Then he could have given you directions to our place!
The one thing that Kathie likely didn't see in The Burg was Timmies. We only have one small one at the south end of town. If you wanted a nice coffee you could have tried Caffeine and Co. They're between the picture of the cannons and the walkway down to The Hosta Garden where you snapped the selfie.
We're both so glad that you enjoyed your day.
We keep your info, along with the rest of the gang, on our phones incase we're ever in the neighbourhood. Just sayin'.
Wow, it has rocketed up to 34F under sunny skies.

Good morning. We will probably be going to lunch someplace today. This afternoon is the Cup race.

Tomorrow I have blood work done first thing in the morning then early afternoon have appt with the Podiatrist, they send a text about the appt and one thing they said was to bring any CD's of x rays etc. Well I don't have any as it has been almost 30 years since I have had any xrays so I know they will take some tomorrow. I will be in the office for most of the time of the eclipse which is fine with me.

All have a great day.

Good morning Wrabbits! Staying home most of the day. Might take a run out to see the family and of course MANNY!

Lee/Lu-Ann: My total intentions were to only go and exchange some US Money for Canadian Funny Money (as we call it) and make sure I knew how to get to the Serb Centre. After I was already there I thought about doing the secondary trip to see if I could find the "A'Burg" area. I have added your phone number and address to my phone so
NEXT TIME I can be more prepared. (by the way..... I would have never thought to just POP-IN on you folks without setting something up before hand with at least a few hours warming) I'm not big on 'Surprise visits'! Ha Ha.
I did see that coffee shop that looked like a former apartment bldg or bank and I did GO INTO the Ice Cream Shoppe. It was FULL of people and I could barely get to see all the ice cream flavors. I didn't wait around to get an ice cream because it was just still too cold to be walking around with one! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: It was a fun outing for me. Went at my own pace.

I go along with the rest of you folks as to STAYING in my own BACKYARD or going to the BIG PARK about 4 miles from here that has a WIDE OPEN elevated area to see the eclipse from. BUT then that might be crowded with people thinking the same thing. Our Kroger parking lot would be another WIDE-OPEN AREA with the empty acreage right behind it facing WEST! (better idea and closer)

I'm off of here now to get a LATE BREAKFAST! I've been lazy this morning and skipped church. Not even driving way down to the church hall for the extra choir rehearsal today. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

SUN is out and temp right now is 46F. Might get into the 50's if we're lucky. You Florida folks enjoy your warmth. I'm jealous.

Karen: What are you up to today girl?

A beautiful day today. As I looked out the window I could see the little yellow wild flowers that I planted a few years ago and they are slowly taking over t he area that I want them to.
I will be staying in our back yard also. Will I need a flashlight?????
Lee, I think 34 is freezing. I cannot take the cold any more. I am waiting for the 80s . If our soil in the back was more acidic our entire back yard would be rhododendrons. It is the WVa state flower and I think it is a beautiful flower.
We are farther W than you Dave and our chances of seeing the eclipse is a little better than you, but I imagine you already knew that.. We will be in our back yard also if it isn't raining. It is supposed to be cloudy.
Thanks for t he pictures K2.

Well, we are back home and operating at almost full speed. Our flight home on Breeze Airways was very nice with only about two minutes of turbulence as we were descending into Providence. Boarding in Vero was pretty simple and Rita and I were the first passengers to be boarded with wheelchair assistance. Airplane was very comfortable and crew very helpful. It was nearly 1 am by the time we got home and got to bed, so we slept in on Friday as I expected. Still have some unpacking to do before we are finally settled in.
When we finally got moving, I found that the battery in my Prius had died and a call to AAA was required, but their representative arrived and had the car charged and running in short order. (A visit to the Toyota dealership is in order for this week.) We also found that our internet service was still on vacation hold and it took a series of phone calls and several hours to get the internet and the TV operational. Seems like everything is now in working order. Rita's car made it home so we picked it up Friday afternoon.
Haven't had time to go back and see what I missed during my absence but will do that ASAP.
Yesterday was drizzly and temperatures were in the mid 40s. Not much warmer today but at least it is sunny and I can see that our
flowering crabs are beginning to bud.

WELCOME BACK HOME BILL & RITA!
Bill, nice to see you in the Hutch again. Now clean up the "dust bunnies" under your bed! Ha Ha.

GAME TIME over here. GO IOWA! They have their work cut out for them. But at least they made it to the FINALS! :clap002: 56F here now and Sun is still out. If it stays like this we should see the Eclipse pretty good!

Welcome home Bill and Rita. Like Motel 6, we did leave a light on for ya. I guess we shouldn’t have hooked it up to the Prius, eh? I’ve got your winnings all addressed so now I know you’re safely home I’ll pop the envelope in the mail this week.
Actually Mike I hear that if you are experiencing “totality” you may need a flashlight. Ya, 34F is darned cold. Which I too am getting less tolerant of.
Kathie, you’re family. 10 minutes notice is more than enough time if you’re dropping by.
I got the back yard trimmed and cut this morning. The darned grass was so thick in spots I didn’t know if my little battery mower would get it all done without a recharge.

Good evening. We went to Flanigan's for lunch and it was good. Got home in time for the start of the race, which was pretty good. One team was celebrating 40 years since the start which was the 6th or so race and if they had not won then it would have folded. IT was the start and today they won again actually finished 1 2 3 and the 4th car finished 8th.

All have a good night.

Good Monday morning! FINALLY the day of the eclipse. No matter how good our view of it is with or without clouds, at least tomorrow at this time I'll no longer have to hear the phrase, "Path Of Totality" for many years to come. :)

At least not in this area. They mentioned on the news that babies born here recently will be 75 years old when another eclipse hits this area.

Also tomorrow, the radio stations will quit playing this song for a while.

5:30 a.m. We are in totality as I type. It’s as dark as night.
I’m with you Dave. Enough of the hype. I’m surprised Hallmark doesn’t have a line of eclipse cards! I like most of Bonnie Tyler’s gravelly voiced tunes.
The building Caffeine and Co is in is the old Amherstburg Echo newspaper building Kathie. How was your visit with Manny? Oh ya, and the family.
That’s all for now.
Have a fun filled day and DON’T stare at the sun.

Good morning. Been up since 6:20. Had blood drawn and of course had to give a urine sample and the toilet seat shifted and pinched my thigh real bad. I will send the company an email also stating they need a rail next to the seat. Have my appt with the Podiatrist this afternoon.

They say that for us the eclipse will start after 1 and not completely end until 4:15. i will be in the Dr's office for a decent part of that time.

All have a great day.

53F and NOT A CLOUD in the SKY.... right now anyways. Let's hope it stays that way later on.
I was just outside on the deck and had those Eclipse glasses on and looked directly into the sun and THEY REALLY WORK. Saw a nice round small glowing SUN. If I miss any of this today, this would be enough for me. BE SAFE YOU ALL.

Lee: If I had your info I really would have called. NEXT TIME for sure. I put it all on the cell phone.
Never made it to see Manny. He got a bath yesterday after running around in the wet yard. Poor guy! This would be a good week to go and visit, since he's nice and fluffy.

Dave: I was never a fan of that song, but THANKS for posting it! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: Just being honest!

I have PT soon and need to get ready.
Need to stop on the way home and pick up a few groceries like MILK and lunchmeat!

Karen: You need to stop by girl!

Later all.

Clear blue cloudless skies here. So it should be perfect to see the 95 % eclipse that they are predicting for our area.
Had to call the newspaper because they must have a new person delivering it and he/she is leaving in the middle of our driveway instead of on our front porch. The person delivering the paper before we left for Florida, not only left it on the porch but actually right at the front door.
Good weekend for sports fan, especially Boston fans since the home teams were victorious.
The Red Sox win over the Angels yesterday was particularly impressive and they return tomorrow for their home opener with a 7-2 record.
Lisa did our taxes yesterday and we are getting some money back from both the State and the Feds. Not enough to change our lifestyle but anything is always better than owing them.

Good morning or possibly good afternoon depending on how slow I type

Kathie, that was quite a road trip you went on the other day, can't believe you were that close & didn't pop in on Lee & LuAnn. Pretty sure any one of us would welcome a last minute visit!

Bill, glad to hear you & Rita had a good trip home! Bummer about the Prius battery, but at least you were able to get it resolved pretty quickly!

Mike, after being in Florida for over 40 yrs 34 isn't cold it's FREEZING!
I've never heard of cherry tomato's growing that tall, but I don't have much luck with tomato's. They grow fine, but for some reason the fruit always rots before it gets ripe

Lee, the new light looks fantastic! I can certainly see why you needed an extra set of hands to get it up.

Dave, glad to hear the eye surgery was a success for both eyes! Nice you were able to get reservations for the eclipse viewing, will the owner be serving snacks for the event as well?

Finished painting the guest room & got everything put back in place. I have a box of things in the truck to drop off at a thrift shop Wed. morning & I sold 2 small area rugs this morning so I did make some progress in sorting & tossing.

Not much else exciting going on, I signed up for an online driver safety course to try & lower my car ins a little. It's 20 chapters long & so far I've only finished 2. One thing I don't like about is it's timed chapters & you can move on to the questions until the timer runs out. Most of the time I am done reading long before the timer is done, so I set my alarm & go off to do other things while I am waiting.

I never picked up any eclipse glasses so I won't be watching today unless I make a pin hole viewer, probably won't. I'll still be able to tell when it's going on even if I'm not looking at the sun.
