Kathie, thanks for the follow up on Bill, will keep him in my prayers for sure!

Mowing day at Jane's so I need to get a move on, want to get done before it get's to hot. I do have a couple of cooling towels I wear as well as a neat "neck fan" my niece got me for Christmas. It really does help on days there isn't much breeze

Hard to see unless you enlarge the picture, but there were 28 Ducks that strolled up from the creek when they saw me on the deck this morning. (Bad picture. Used the ipad)
we don’t feed the ducks anymore or we would have 100 every day! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Got some early thunder and light drizzle of rain just as Art pulled out to meet the bikers at the Big Park! I think they will NOT be biking today! :emoticon 0101 sadsmile:

I’m smiling. Why? Because there is already been so much chat on here this morning. And that is a good thing.
You mentioned wipes Kathie and I thought of the TV series “Monk”. I don’t know if you remember it but he, played by Tony Shaloub, was a germophobe and always using “wipes”. Seems like in spite of the showers your day is starting out just ducky.
Please take it easy pushing that mower Karen. Even though I can cut the front in about 20 minutes (no trimming) I won’t even attempt it in the heat we’re expecting over the next few days.
Looks like we may get a break in the showers. Hope it will be long enough to get Ava down to The Navy Yard.

Lee: IF the BIKER BOYS would have waited another 20 mins or so they would have been able to do a bike ride today. Personally, I am thrilled they did not wait. I wasn't real happy with
Mr ART biking 30 miles in this ugly 90's+ temperature. Right now it's
96F over here in our neck of the woods. SUNNY, MUGGY, HUMID and just ugly.

Just got back from visiting RICK. He looked pretty good for Day 2 after surgery. He was moving his left hand and arm really well compared to Sunday. The Right hand, which took a good part of the fall, isn't as active in the fingers. He can't swallow because of the neck surgery and is on IV fluids. We called his daughter and she got to FACE TIME with him and talk to him. She has Covid and also has other issues from a major BIKE FALL and can't drive to see him. (Don't ask......it's a crazy situation)
Our purpose of the visit was to see RICK and get permission to pick up his bike from the Fire Dept where the EMS Fire guys took it.
So later after rush hour traffic we'll go get it and either bring it back here or drop it off at this another Bikers house that Rick mentioned would "detail the bike" or at least figure out what shape it is in. Art could very well do that, but he mostly works on a different brand than TREK bikes. That's another story. This bike is almost brand new and about $4000 bucks and Art would rather have the fellow "TREK BIKE OWNER" fuss with it than him doing anything. Art is a "Specialized brand" bike man. Boys and their bikes~ :emoticon 0136 giggle:

All useless information for my Bunny Family! Sorry for going on and on.

Karen: I pray it isn't as hot down by you as it is here right now. Cutting grass today would be horrible here.

Well, I just had to look up your weather Karen and it's as HOT DOWN YOUR WAY as it is here. I'm sure you're done with the grass cutting by now and hopefully inside or trying to cool off in the pool if the water isn't too hot.

A good call, even if the weather helped, by Art to NOT bike today. I’m. Sure you feel a lot better about that decision too Kathie. It sounds like a little glimmer for Rick’s recovery.
They’re calling for nasty weather to pass this way between now and 17:00. It’s 91F but feels like 108F when you factor in the humidity.
In the past 5 minutes my watch has blown up with “severe thunderstorm warnings” as well as a text and phone call from The Town’s emergency alert system.
Better sign off for now!

I hope Bill continues to improve.
Fay went to the doctor today and he went over the blood test with her. She hasn't improved but she hasn't gotten any worse. He is going to give her a different med that is stronger.
Am I correct in thinking that you do not watch all of those channels every da y Lee. I get a few channels showing the old tv series. I hope the severe thunderstorm warning do not cause any damage.
I hope Rick is doing well K2. I can understand Art's worring about him.
Has aniything been said what the astronauts will eat for the next 8 months Dave. I don't remember reading what they will do for food.
I did not sit outside today, probably won't sit out tomorrow. If I do it will be in the shade.

You still there K2 and Lee? The sun was out here yesterday afternoon when the weather folk said you guys were getting clobbered with nasty storms.

Oh yea Lee.....It's 5 in the afternoon, not 1700. Are you itching to clean the latrine with a toothbrush CIVVIE? :) You sure have an array of channels to watch to view the doom and gloom of the world. I just stick with the free ones.

Wow K2, 4,000 bucks for a bicycle. It made me think of all the cars in my life that cost less than that. Happy to hear that Art's biker buddy is doing much better. Great picture.

Mike; It's my understanding that there is a limited amount of regular food for the astronauts but lots of extra energy bars.

Hoping Bill is continuing his upward recovery.

Oh goody, a construction project on the street behind us. I mentioned that when we moved in it was just an open field. Seems that there is one empty lot in this allotment. I love snooping as they build a new house. Have so since I was a kid. So now we are driving by it almost every day. At the moment, the basement has been dug. Yesterday it looked as though they were setting molds down in it to fill with cement. No concrete blocks for this foundation. Don't know if I like that or not.

That was some storm we had last evening. I hope you fared well Kathie.
I moved the square planter up on the front porch. One of the round planters blew over. It had never done that! I moved the third one up too. I took the cushion and pillows off the little seat we have on the porch too. This morning the square planter had blown over again. The power flickered just long enough to mess up the clocks, computer and box that controls our tv, internet and phone. Tons of garbage cans blown over because people put them out last night for today’s collection. I always put our garbage out in morning after I walk Ava. We had rain and lightening all night until just before 5:00. Five a.m.
Very few cement block foundations any more Dave. They take time and skill to reinforce and do property. We do just stick to the basic tv package which still costs too much!
The good news is that Fay‘s test didn’t go backwards Mike. Good point about food on the space station.
I hear Lu-Ann stirring. I best head off for now but I’ll pop back later on.
Have a good one everybody.

OK, back for a second or two.
Lu-Ann and the ladies are heading out this morning so she was up a little earlier than usual. I’m taking the morning to call Apple about trying to recover pictures from the old iPhoto files in to the Photos format.
How'd you make out with the grass yesterday Karen? Hopefully you managed to get in a cooling dip in the pool after you were done. After the rain and heat and rain and heat the grass here needs cutting again. But that’s not gonna happen until it the humidity drops a tad.
If Bill or Rita are reading along you know we’re thinking about you both.
Off to the Navy Yard with Ava.

Good afternoon!

Lee, I did manage to get Jane's grass cut yesterday, ended up mowing the back yard instead of the front because it needed it worst. Took lots of cool down breaks and drank plenty of water. We planned to take a dip in the pool but a nasty thunderstorm rolled thru just about the time we planned to go, so no swimming for us.

Kathie, glad to hear Rick is improving after his surgery! I lit a candle for him today at church. Rev. Lisa commented a couple weeks ago about the lady from Macomb, Mi who watches our live stream & comments & I told her she was a friend of mine who hears about St. Mary's from me all the time!

Mike, glad to hear Fay's blood test was ok, at our age if bloodwork comes back the same as before I call it pretty good! Hope you get some time in the shade.

Dave, how are they supporting the foundation of the house if not concrete blocks? Down here I'd say 99% of houses built are on a concrete slab & them concrete block construction. Very few wood frame houses built anymore.

Bill, sure hope you are on the mend & able to go home soon!

Lazy day around here today, went to BJ's this morning & got gas before church $2.97 a gal, then church, then home where I have done basically nothing!! I was thinking about going to the pool later on but I am already seeing dark clouds move in so that will probably be a No go. I should think about cleaning house, but will probably wait till the morning to do that.

Rain. Then more sun and heat. Then more rain. This is getting old fast!
I can see that the grass here is going to need cutting using your “needed it worse” way of deciding Karen. I guess if it’s dry enough first thing in the morning I can get a jump on it. Seems you’ve made Kathie an interstate celebrity.

I have spent most of today, off and on between laundry loads, with “Brandon” from Apple support. I called at 10:15 and got called back right away. We were trying to find all of the photos that were in iPhoto when Apple changed their photo program. Of course if I had done the conversion when they announced the change it would have been easier. Anyway, we got things started and Brandon called back twice to check the progress and walk me through the process of importing over 46,000 (yes, you read that right!) images. Once they’re done I can sort them by date taken and we can relive some mighty fine memories. Including cruises with Marcia, Dave, Karen and Tony.
Take care everyone.

Karen: Thanks for lighting the candle for Rick. I’ll be sure to mention it to and ALL the other best wishes from all of good caring people. You may not know Rick, but it means a lot that you all care! Thanks!!

Art and I went to the Fire Station that had his bike. The bike made just fine in the crash amazingly. The Bike Club supports this small town Fire Station with donations from the clubs treasury. Rick said today from his hospital bed one good deed helps another.

My the way I need to make sure you all know that ART does NOT own a $4000 bike! :smiley25:

Storm update from last night.
WOW AMAZING WIND! Art and I were on our deck watching the storm approach and it came through so fast we just stood there looking at our big Maple tree getting whipped around and suddenly before we had enough sense to go inside a HUGE BRANCH from the neighbors FAMOUS ROT RIDDEN WILLOW tree snapped and went down. BOOM! It was worth the risk of being outside to see it happen!

There were lots of fallen huge Spruce trees fallen and big branches everywhere on our travels today. We were lucky to just fill a leaf bag full of small branches and leaves.

Lee: Glad you didn’t have too much damage. Funny how people don’t listen to weather reports of HIGH WINDS coming and actually put out their trash.

Here’s a few pics of the fallen Willow branches. Enlarge to see better view. The wind was blowing in the right direction to avoid falling on our tall spruce trees right there in front of these fallen limbs. This is the 2nd time this Summer that the wind took out some of the weak limbs on this Huge Willow.

SORRY about all the mistakes in my above post. I was using my cell phone and didn't re-read it. YIKES! Most of them you can figure out. We're all good at reading wrong words by now.

** The one big mistake was on this sentence. (if you can call it a sentence)

My the way I need to make sure you all know that ART does NOT own a $4000 bike!

Should say:

BY THE WAY, I need to make sure you all know that Art does NOT own a $4000 bike!

I just don't get it. Lee & K2; We live relatively close, but once again yesterday, you two got storms and we pretty much got all sunshine.

According to the weather maps Mike, today is going to be another cooker for you.

KC; Here, where we have basements, it seems that the new way is forming the basement walls with only concrete, and not concrete blocks. I've yet to see whether they use cement blocks above ground-level. Lucky you, $2.97 a gallon for gas. A couple of days ago it bottomed out here at $3.09, before it jumped up 30 cents a day later.

Grocery day, before Kathi goes for a massage.

That damage looks similar to what occurred around this area Kathie. Trees and limbs down, LOTS of water in low lying areas. The wind even tipped grocery cart corrals at the grocery in LaSalle which is just up the road. We got more warnings around the dinner hour for severe storms so I brought the plants up to safety. It seems they have taken the storms out of the forecast for today. Well, for now.
We have a nice bike shop & cafe in town. They have bikes for every budget right up to the “How much!!!?” like Rick’s bike.
Around here they pour the footings then bring in the forms for basement walls Dave. Once they are poured the forms come off and the basement concrete floor gets poured. Next the floor joists and steel i beam get set. There may be 2 steel beams depending on the house. Then the exterior framing, some pre constructed, which is a minimum of 2” x 6” lumber goes up. Most of the roof joists now are all prefabricated off site so they are delivered and hoisted in to place. I haven’t even started on the interior trades! Geez, it almost takes longer to write about the process than it does to build the house!
It looks like sitting in the shade may be a tad cooler today Mike.
I’m still working out the “which lawn needs cutting more” Karen.
After reading your post and corrections Kathie I had to bring out Old Blue Eyes and his classic rendition of My Way…

Thank goodness the A/C didn't go out during that last storm!

Don't have much for you lovely folks this morning! (lucky for you -- Ha ha)

I'm off to get a WELL-NEEDED HAIR CUT! Hope all the traffic lights have been fixed as I travel to the East side, about 40 mins from here.
Yesterday, as we traveled to pick up RICK's bike we had MANY signal lights not working and making corners a "
4-Way Stop". When that happens you get drivers that PLAY FAIR and some that just take over the corner! Scary!

Be safe out there today folks. Enjoy each and every day you're given, even if it's a challenge! ENJOY SOME COFFEE ON ME THIS MORNING! IT's FRESH BREWED! :D:D

Well, not too hot yet so…
The winner is the front yard!
After our walk at The Navy Yard I popped Lu-Ann up to HomeSense. She was there yesterday and had seen some things she thought would make nice Christmas gifts for The Grey Ladies. I’m having a coffee and then I’ll go out with my mower.
I mentioned the very helpful fellow from Apple yesterday. Would you believe I’m still importing photos? 2013 is almost done. Hopefully I can get 2014 started before I go out.
Yes Kathie, when the power to traffic lights goes off every intersection turns into a real “crap shoot”. Hmmm. Where did that expression come from he wondered aloud. Anyway, like you said some play nice and others not so much.

Lee I have never heard all of My Way from beginning to end before today, generally just a bar or two at a time. Thanks for posting it. Tomorrow I may listen to more of old Blue eyes songs. Our house is built the way you explained the houses are built. Some times it is very difficult to drill into the cement walls, even with a hammer drill.
I missed your mistake K2, thanks for letting me know about it.
Dave, Kc, the cement walls in the basement go all the way up to the 2x8 boards that the 2x4s are set on. I.m not sure how the houses are built on a concrete slab.
We got storm warnings yesterday, but like Dave, we didn't get any high winds or rain. Today was in the 90s again.
Pattie, took us out huntng for wheelchairs again today. I want something very light so I can get it in the car. None of the stores had light ones so I ordered one thru the internet.

Glad you enjoyed “My Way” Mike. It’s one of my favourites. Hope the wheelchair meets your needs and expectations.
We took a chance on there being a nice breeze being along The River. There was. A tad humid but comfortable.
Have a good night everyone.
