Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good evening, this has just been one of those weeks that had something going on every day! This morning was mowing Jane's front yard, grocery shopping & then Pat & I went up to the hospital to see Leila & take her some shelf stable tuna & chicken salad & some protein bars. Her son is doing MUCH better, he is off the ventilator and breathing on his own & while we were there the Dr. came in & said they would be moving him out of ICU into a step down unit. They still don't know for sure what caused the BP drop, he's also anemic & has a low platelet count so there may be other things going on they are trying to figure out.
Tomorrow I have nothing on the schedule & will try to get back & do a real post, for now I'm just checking in.

Just in case you retired folk forgot, today is Saturday. Something they call a "weekend". :)

Yes Lee, those prices in the 1977 Sears Wish Book were incredibly low by today's prices. Although there was a slight increase in honey bees this past summer, we never had a lot of wasps like you and K2.

Good for you K2 on getting a better battery powered leaf blower. Don't miss winding and unwinding that old cord, do you?

It's going to be warm around here on Sunday, Mike. But it sounds like you'll be 10 degrees warmer than we will.

It's always so nice to see you checking in, KC. Even if you don't have the time to say a lot. At least Leila's son is off the ventilator. Any progress is a victory.

Every time I get one of those medical tests, I try my best to get some information about my test from the technician that does it. Since they are not suppose to tell you anything, but leave that up to the doctor I rarely get them to talk about what they know.

So all I got out of the technician at yesterday's eckocardiogram was that she found nothing terrible.

CLOSE but no cigar on finishing the bathroom project yesterday. But should be totally finished on Monday.

Figured that the toilet started acting up, where we couldn't get it to quit dripping, so the nephew had to stop his work and put in a new "flush kit". Now it doesn't keep dripping and it fills up a lot quicker. The 20 year old flush-kit that was in there took 3 minutes to refill the bowl and tank, and now it only takes one minute.

So, what did the toilet say after Dave and Kathi pushed the handle? “I feel flushed”.
Good morning folks!
I love to read our notes in the morning and see extra good news like you shared about Leila’s son Karen.

Tomorrow I have nothing on the schedule
”When man plans God laughs” I believe the old saying goes…
Well Dave, with the bathroom, as Kathie would…”always something”. We can’t even get that much information out of techs here. Their standard answer is usually “Your Doctor’s office will be in touch”.
About 44 years ago Mike, Lu-Ann hired a guy to prep, cook and clean up around meal time. Now we have a dishwasher. I’ve always enjoyed cooking. When we were working I was usually home mid to late afternoon so it made sense for me to take care of the dinners. Back then we’d do the dishes together.
I looked in the basement Kathie and found our oriole feeder. I have a shepherd’s hook in the garage that I can use to hang it. I do hope the wasps like dollar store grape jelly!
I had forgotten that yesterday was “Broderick Crawford Day”. A nod to Crawford’s “10-4” often used line in Highway Patrol.
There’s a new little dog spa in town. Today they are offering $10 cash only nail trims. For dogs. I knew either Dave or Mike would ask. So, we’ll tie that little side trip into Ava’s Navy Yard walk.
Have a fantastic Saturday.

Hi gang. 68F and SUNNY :clap002:

Nice chatter Dave & Lee.

So Dave who gets to take the FIRST SHOWER next week? I think you should draw names from a deep bowl. Use old towels for that 1st shower and TIME THE USE OF THE HIT WATER! :crazy01:

I went and met Jill, Mark, Ash at the coffee place in Lake Orion. Got to also see the Chef from a great Italian restaurant that bikes w/Art and the others in the club. He has a GIRLFRIEND that he got into biking. Nice gal. Yup, he’s divorced and looks like he’s very happy these days!

Then I went and got a cup of the very best Wild Mushroom soup at Papa Joe’s and went to the quaint little cemetery that we had plots in last year and sold back to the Township. Yup, I had LUNCH in a cemetery. Peaceful. Thinking about buying in here again instead of going to the Military Cometary in Holly, Mi.
Ha ha…… I think I see the guys with the white straight jackets approaching me right now! :confusedvb:

I am listening to the Detroit Tigers losing to Cleveland. Horrible plays on Tigers part.

Okay, time to head home. Only about 15-20 mins depending on traffic. Everyone is out getting CIDER at the various cider mills around here. Never do that on a weekend if you don’t have to!

Later gang.

Here’s the area we did have a plot! image.jpg
We were by the TREE!

Saw this on. Florida FBook site. Hope it doesn’t happen.
TROPICS: Tropical Depression Fourteen has formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Anyone in the Florida Peninsula needs to pay attention to this storm.

This will become hurricane Milton and could strengthen at or near major hurricane status. Life-threatening impacts are possible across parts of Florida next week.

Karen I hope it stays away from you and all others too.

We were in Hawaii one Mothers Day Kathie. We were headed to The Byodo-In Temple on Oahu. Our drive took us through a beautiful cemetery where many families were enjoying meals and visits with their loved ones.
On the topic of cemetery’s, The Tigers were buried by The Cleveland Indians Guardians this afternoon.
A beautiful day here today. Tomorrow looks nice too!

Good evening! I had plans to check in much earlier than this but I was busy doing nothing and just never made it! :)

Kathie, Tropical Storm Milton has formed & is forecast to make his way across the lower, middle, upper part of Florida, take your pick. At this point they have no clue which way he will end up going. My heart goes out to all those who are still reeling from Helene and now to have this heading our way is just unreal.

Dave, good to hear the Shower project is nearing completion! Nice too that the nephew could get the old toilet flushing & filling like new again! You had asked the other day about what an infusion was, I believe it is medicine given thru an IV solution. In Mikes case it was probably Prolia or one of the other bone density therapies. My niece has to have frequent iron infusions.

Lee, that was an adorable sketch of Princess Ava! I too am looking for a handyman to prep, cook & clean up, do you know of any agencies who might have such a person available?

Mike, I agree with you, the older we get the more "we used to" comes up in normal everyday conversations. Guess it's the price we pay for living long enough to get old

Today I actually did next to nothing! One load of laundry & fixed an early dinner of meat loaf & baked potato, it was pretty tasty too! My meatloaf can be hit or miss sometimes.
Talked to my niece for a while, 2 weeks from today I will be there & Allie will be 12 yrs old. I have no clue what to get her, Amanda was supposed to get us a Temu or Amazon list but that never happened. Most likely she will get cash in a card, luckily she's getting to the age where she likes having cash to spend!

Tomorrow is Blessing of the pets day at church, Ginger is less than thrilled with the prospect of being put in her carrier, but hopefully with enough treats I can get her in there.
Have a great evening all!

As we all have from time to time, I woke up this morning filling drained, with zip for energy. So it's a "mill around smartly" kind of day. :)

I've got to admit Lee, I don't know very many people that have a spare Shepherd's-Hook in their garage.

"TIME THE USE OF THE HIT WATER!" I have no idea what you are talking about, K2. I'm still sticking with being cremated. No need for me to have a forwarding-address.

KC; I feel so sorry that you are being threatened by tropical storms and hurricanes. And with global warming, It's probably only going to get worse.

You are so right, Mike. "I used to" shows up in my talks way too often. But it beats the alternative.

Weather…the forecast here was for it to dip into the low 50‘s width a cool breeze. I got my long pants and sweatshirt ready four our early walk. Well, it’s 64F with a cool breeze. No wonder our friends and neighbours in FL are so concerned with the lack of any accuracy in the predictions of Milton’s path.
I don't know very many people that have a spare Shepherd's-Hook in their garage.
Well, now you know at least one Dave. I think Kathie was meaning “hot” water. The idea behind a shower is for the water to hit you. Now put your feet up and recharge your energy level.
It sounds like you actually took time for a “Me Day” Karen. That’s nice. I hope there is a good turn out for The Blessing of The Pets. And all the pet attendees get along.

I mentioned that the new pet spa was doing $10 nail trims. We thought it was yesterday. It’s today. When we popped in the young lady said we do them Sunday. DOH! We said we walk Ava at the park every day so we’d pop in on the right day. The young lady whose business it is said “you’re here so let’s do Ava now”. She has gained a new customer.
Good morning Kathie and Mike!
Whatever the day brings you l hope it’s a good, safe and healthy one.

Happy Sunday GIF
Good Morning Wabbits!
Karen: I how the blessing of
GINGER went well for both of you today!
There's a Serbian Orthodox church in Monroe, MI that has a Sunday set aside for "Blessing of the CARS or Motor Vehicles!"
Good for you Karen, taking a day off to do little to nothing.

FR DAVE: Lee got it right when he said that I meant
HOT WATER and not HIT.
I was just thinking you 2 haven't showers in weeks and the 1st one of you might use up all the
HOT WATER and leave the other one with a cold shower! :emoticon 0136 giggle:
Dave, I turned over in bed early this morning and it was 5:31am on my clock on the nightstand and I said to myself..........I BET DAVE IS UP BY NOW! Ha Ha

Lee: So, did you fill up the Oriole feeder and set it out for the WASPS?? I find they usually came out when the Sun was shining and it was hot out.
Nice of the gal to trim Ava's nails without you having to come back today. How did Ava take to having that done?

Lee posted: Guess it's the price we pay for living long enough to get old.
I think that's a great statement and fits well with ALL OF US on here and most of our friends.

Mike: Are you getting out your sweatshirts for the upcoming cooler weather or are you like ART and already wearing them in the mornings.
I looked out the window when I got up and ART had his old sweatshirt on and a "CAP" and was out in the yard by the garden area where there's some perineal plants and he was cleaning things up. The older he gets the quicker he gets cold. THIN SKIN can do that to you.
You and FAY have a good week.

I miss posting reply comments to Marica, Tony, Pat and Bill. Just wish the Lord would let them post on here. Boy could they tell us a few things about how things are with them now!
Prayers that they know they are TOTALLY MISSED.

I managed to Roll out 10 Nut Rolls yesterday starting after dinner. I got done with rolling and waiting for them to bake around 12:30 a.m. These will be for the Choir's Thanksgiving Bake Sale. My friend and I have agreed that we would only make 10 each and not charge the choir for the ingredients like we would if we were making 40 of these rolls. We're wising up to the fact that we can only do so much these days. By use donating 10 nut rolls each the choir will make $400 bucks! There's a gal, 86 yrs young, that is in charge of PRE-ORDERS and she does a great job. A group of choir gals will make about 40 more nut rolls and they will all sell. So, the choir will make
$1200.00 just from nut rolls at the bake sale. (less the expense for the ingredients for the 40)
We have a NON-Member that generously gives a check of $200 (some years more) so that adds to the total profit of the day.

It's always fun waiting for the e-mail telling us just how much we made at the Bake Sale. :clap002:

Now about Tropical Storm (soon to be HURRICANE) I pray that it will spare Florida and our dear Karen and her sisters and others that I know.
Whoever TICKED OFF Mother Nature really needs to APOLOGIZE and fast.

I'd like to take a drive to the lake cottage today. It might be the last day that Tass is there. Her nephews took in the dock and water-crafts last week, so it will look like the season is over. The cottage got a lot of use this year. Let's hope all is good with Tass through the Winter and it will be there for us all to enjoy next season. Tass is on Oxygen and has a hard time with her breathing since her near death during Covid. (And yes, she WAS a smoker in years past) I know once she is no longer with us that the boys will most likely SELL the cottage and split the money. If Jeff was still alive he wouldn't let that happen. That was his baby to care for. Miss my nephew and his humor.

Okay.......Have a nice day and SORRY for the long post.

Please NEVER apologize for a long post Kathie. I think they’re great and enjoy reading them.

In response to Kathie’s questions…

I don’t remember posting that wonderful line about the price we pay for aging. But you are so right. It’s a great statement.
This late in the season we won’t worry about the wasps. But for sure next year.
OK, so I’m trying to do the math for the cost of one nut roll. I’m calculating $30 - $40 each?
About who should be apologizing for ticking off Mom Nature…t-rump apologizes to no one. Ever.
Ava did very well getting her nails trimmed. We’ll take her back next month.
If you get to the lake, enjoy your time there.
Ya, I miss all of those folks too. I miss the humour, wit, wisdom and just knowing they were all here.

I have to run back to the hardware store. A process which I thought is pretty simple is, I have learned, not as simple as I thought. I had a key duplicated this morning. I tried to put it in the lock when I got home and never mind unlocking the lock, it wouldn’t even go in to the slot. I looked at it and the profile is not remotely similar. So, I guess duplicating a key does fall into the category of “rocket science”.
How’d Ginger do Karen?
OK, I’m outa here.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good afternoon, it's been a rainy drizzle kind of day here today. Almost missed taking Ginger to the pet blessing, I went to lunch with Rev. Lisa & 2 other ladies from church and as usual on Sundays it took a while to get our food. By the time we were leaving it was about 10 mins. till the service was supposed to start an d I still had to get back to the church, get my truck, go home & "hopefully" get Ginger into her carrier.. They did promise they wouldn't leave till I got back so that was nice. Luckily for me Ginger came running to the door when I got home so I was able to scoop her up, get her in the carrier & make it back to church. She doesn't like riding but she was very good at church when Rev. Lisa was putting the Holy Water on her head she sat really still. She even got a treat & a certificate. There were about 6 other people there with dogs & 1 goat.
I ate to much at lunch so I really think a beloved afternoon nap is in order.

Kc, thanks for the explanation on infusions. I knew somthing about it but wasn't sure. I'm also on vitamin B1 an calcium pills. I hope Ginger goes into the carrier without too many problems.
Dave. after I get a medical test I looked it up on My Chart. After I read it I still don't know what the test showed.
K2, I never did care for cider.
Lee, cooking, If I am very careful I can make a cup of coffee. When I was 7 or 8 I would fry scambled eggs or french; toast. That is as far as m;y cooking goes.

LEE: You are sooo right.........YOU DID NOT make that quote I posted earlier on Sunday! It was our dear KAREN who quoted it. Ha Ha.
Lee: The nut rolls are $20 bucks each!

I'll come back tomorrow and post a tad more once my iPhone is charged. The photos from our trip to the cottage are on it. For some dumb reason they don't transfer to this Laptop. And I don't have the time to take it somewhere to figure out why!! DUH!!

Karen I love the Snoopy cartoon and saying. So True.
Glad the Pet blessing went good with Ginger. Hopefully, it will save you some bucks by not having to go to the Vets too many times!! :kitty:

Karen get all your plants inside early enough and hope you and your sister can get her
Sun-tarp down before the storm hits. SAND BAGS by your patio door might be a good idea!
I'm saying an extra prayer tonight that MILTON fizzles out before he reaches your area.

AFTER WATCHING THE WEATHER CHANNEL I'm worried.

Prayers going out to our KAREN and her family and Bert (Pat's hubby) and his family and everyone in Florida.
Please get a bag full of your
important papers "just in case" you might need them.
Fill containers with water "just in case" you might need them.
It's worth the extra work and effort to
be prepared.
Charge your cell phones and buy a few of those charging cubes that don't need to be plugged in. Money well spent if you need to call for help. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Know we will all be watching the news the next few days.

Yes, I might be over-reacting, but I'm truly, truly concerned for you Karen. :emoticon 0152 heart:

REALLY? I'd seen on the news that people have been hoarding toilet paper, because of the strike of people who load and unload ships from other countries.

My Arizona daughter told me yesterday that the Costco near her was sold out.

People, the U.S. DOES NOT import toilet paper. They make it all here. Now I'm wondering what we'll find when we go to the grocery store this week.

Lee; Obviously the person at the hardware store isn't all that proficient at making copies of keys. That sucks. One extra trip you didn't need.

Like Art, I too get cold a lot quicker as I get older, K2.

Speaking of age, a couple of neighborhood 10 year olds rode their bikes up to peoples houses asking if they needed help in mowing, trimming or any other jobs. Lucky for them Kathi decided to hire them to cut down and bag up a bunch of Black Eyed Susans. Kathi foolishly asked them how old they thought she is. 86 was their answer. Heck she hasn't hit 70. But she got a chuckle out of it. Older people find it difficult to guess young kids age. And young kids have a difficult time guessing older people's age.

GREAT Snoopy cartoon, KC. I'd have loved to see the goat in the church. That's all you need, another big storm coming your way.

Sometimes, since we don't cook much, I think they invented TV dinners just for people like me and you, Mike.

HOPEFULLY today ALL things will be finished in and around our walk in shower. (And all that dust settles.)

49F this morning with a stiff wind out of the west. The wind toppled two of our planters. A definite fall morning.
I’m not liking the look of Milton’s projected path at this point either Kathie. I hope you had a nice day at the lake. You had a dandy day for it!
I know we all likely worry way more than we need to but please keep an eye and ear on the weather Karen. This isn’t your first Florida storm. But we still worry.
Those kids will never get jobs as age guessers at the fair Dave! Covid…hoard toilet paper. Longshoremen strike…hoard toilet paper. Bad weather’s a comin’…hoard toilet paper. Somethings just make me shake my head.
You mentioned access to your medical records Mike. We are granted access and for the most part still don’t completely understand what we’re trying to read!
Wherever you are, have a good day, stay safe and watch out for the other guy.

I am definitely bringing in the welcome mat after this week, Milton is now a cat 5 hurricane & yes, I'm a bit nervous about his arrival. It looks like a pretty big storm so even without a direct hit we are most likely going to get a BUNCH of wind & rain! I have a feeling selling my gas grill with a side burner today was NOT the smartest move, oh well, $50 is $50.

Kathie, trust me, I am/will be as well prepared for this storm as I can be, kind of like how you & Art prepare for blizzards or bad weather in Michigan.
Nice that the choir can get $20 each for your nut rolls, I know they are a lot of work for uou.

Dave, I always hated when someone would ask me how old I think they are, I'm horrible at guessing ages, heck half the time I can't remember how old "I" am!
Hopefully the shower work will wrap up soon & you can enjoy your nice new bathroom!

Mike, about the only test results I can understand online are my blood tests & that's because the lab codes the results red for bad or green for good, plus I can go back & look at prior results & it tells me how much it's gone up or down. Anything else I wait for the Dr. to tell me

Lee, I envy your fall morning, still warm & humid here it feels like summer just does not want to give in & go away!

I got up early this morning with the intention of going to the gym for an exercise class & then over to church to plant a couple small bushes. As I was heading out it was misting rain so I decide to heck with the gym & went on to church and planted the bushes. I figured with the coming storm they would get a good start with a soaking rain.
Came home & put together a shepherds pie & just finished having a dish of that & a fruit salad for lunch. Now I need to tidy up the kitchen and pack up the leftover pie for the freezer. Enjoy your Monday all!
