YIKES, a tire blow-out at 70 MPH. That had to be scary. Being a front, driver's side tire, on a 2 lane road you could have been pulled over into the other lane and got into a head on crash. Count your lucky stars, K2. Cool pictures.

Good to hear that KC came through the big storm unscathed with only losing electric power.

Milton was a cute little toaster, Lee. Some might say he's "hot". :)

Time to google Kellogg's Pop Tarts, Mike. It's a bit different than what you think.

My turn today to head to the barber shop this morning. Heck, I haven't been there in over 2 months. It needs at least 2 inches cut off.

Good morning, quick check in before I head to the church for work day. Power came back on about 8:30 last night & I lost track of the number of times I tried to turn on a light switch with no results in that 24 hour span! A few fences leaning or down in the complex but no major damage so I'm thankful for that! Have a great day all & thanks for the prayers, I know they helped a lot!

GOOD MORNING KAREN!
A wonderful way to start the day seeing a hello from you. So glad you all made it through Milton without any serious damage. I hope the same thing can be said for all of your friends in your community and church family.
Great line about Milton Dave. I love a good pun! I don’t know what your barber charges you but don’t get clipped.
You’re so lucky Kathie. Had that re-bar been a tad further over you’d have lost the wheel too! I think because our sky is illuminated from the green house a couple of country roads over it makes the Northern Lights harder to see! Good looking young man that grandson of yours.
Ya Mike. Pop Tarts are little fruit filled pastries that you put in your toaster. When they first came out they had two flavours. Now there’s a ton of flavours. I can’t tell you the last time we had them. My first two pets were white mice. Their names were Squeeky and Nosey.
I’m running a tad behind this morning. I actually slept past 6:00! Wasted half the day!! ;) We have a fella coming to give us a quote to put a bug screen across our back porch sitting area. The phone estimate was far more reasonable than the first guy but Manny wants to come out to give us a firm price. He too has done work for friends and they were pleased.
Have a super day everyone.

Hmmm. I hope all is well for Kathie and Mike. It’s not like Kathie to miss checking in.

Karen: So good to onow your power came back on and no damage to your place. Whew!
After watching the Weather Station and other channels it’s unreal what the TORNADO did to some and then getting the HURRICANE….unbelievable damage. Lots of folks are giving up on living by the “water in Florida”. Some have had 3 & 4 hurricanes and are out of money for repairs and Patience.

Dave: I-94 freeway is 3 lanes wide and has a cement barrier in-between the traffic going each way! ( does that make sense…hope so?) I was still lucky and thankful it was only my tire.

Lee: Sounds like a neat idea to get the BUG screen. Does that mean that
Lu-Ann won’t be BUGGING YOU ANYMORE!
200.gif

Does this screen roll up or slide back to one side when you don’t want it down??

7:30 A.M. EYE appt went well. I was only there for 1.5 hrs!
This was a new eye doctor and I liked him. Jill recommended him to me.
All my concerns over Glaucoma & Macular degeneration were amswered. NO ISSUES! The Dr does want a different range of a “ Field Test “ done in a couple of weeks. I brought copies of my last Field Test (2022) and he was impressed that I had the printed copies! I mentioned I have folders from ALL my various doctors to keep track of paperwork, test results and receipts!

Came home and pulled Perennials on this beautiful sunny/warm day.

We then went to this local Pub called the “Shamrock” est. 1934, for the best bar hamburger around for a decent price of $8.50 each!! Got lucky and found a parking spot in the lot and didn’t have to wait more than 2 mins to get seated. It’s LOUD in this place, but it’s worth it. They have yummy RAW ONION SLICES for the burgers too! Yum.

The Northern Lights are-seen when you point your cell phone to the sky and HOLD YOUR PHONE STEADY and click to take the picture and CONTINUE TO HOLD your cell steady and still for about 4 seconds.
Out of here for now.

Welcome to Saturday!

Another day of electricity for you KC. Yippee! Paint me a mental picture of what it was like at your house at night. Lot's of candles, or battery powered lights, or a combination of both? Anybody have a hard time finding a bathroom in the middle of the night? What were meals made up of? Inquiring minds want to know.

Although clear, we weren't able to see the northern lights on Thursday night. Apparently they weren't visible in this area till 1 AM.

I just imagined what walking Squeeky & Nosey was like, Lee. For sure, not a lot of ground was covered. And probably tough finding collars and leashes for them. :) Great idea getting a bug screen for your back porch.

You DID make it on last night, K2. I too was beginning to worry. I have no idea what a "field test" is.

Mike, don't have us worrying about you too.

Good morning everyone.
Ya, the screen is a good idea. It’s $1700 and we have to roll it up by hand. Motorized was about 5K! Manny is the company owner, does all of the house calls, measures and offers solutions that meet the customer’s needs. It is one piece, weighted at the bottom and zips in place at the sides. To let Ava out we only need to unzip part way up one end. Two sets of straps will let us roll it to 6 feet or all the way up at 8 1/2 feet.
$.8.50 for a burger is about half what a burger costs around here Kathie. My sweetie never “bugs” me. Score two brownie points for that line! ;) Glad your eye appointment went well.
I smiled too about Karen’s reference to flipping on light switches even when you know the power is out.
I had a little toy Army Jeep when I had the mice Dave. I’d put them in / on it and push them slowly around the rec room we had. I reckon I was only about 8 or nine when I had them. Any new pumpkin spice creations this week?
We bottle our wine today! Ray called yesterday to set up an appointment. The wine gets bottled, corked, the shrinks go on the neck over the cork and lastly the labels go on.
Why yes, I would enjoy a coffee. Can I get anyone else a cup?
Have a good, safe day everyone.

I was hoping to see the meteor tonight or last night, did not see anything, also no nothern lights. I guess I am too far south to see them.
Thanks for the song Dave, how do you find all of them or do you just type the name in search????
Lee, if I got a cup of coffee at 6:30 in the morning I would drown in it.
K2, I have maculardegeneration buI can't tell, I have had it for over a year. Mine may be age related.
Karen, you dodged Milton, then came the tornadoes. I read a lot of people are leaving Fl, hurricanes, tornadoes and sink holes are a bit much for them. I I was younger I would think about moving to Fl, sure hate the winter
.
Our roses are still booming, we have a very bright red one that I check on every morning.
Have a good night.

Good Sunday morning, Bunnies!

Oh goody, we're starting off today dropping off my car at the mechanic's. And they "might" be able to look at and fix it this week.

Last week I went out in it for something, and when I was going around a corner I heard this loud THUNK and then the thump-thump-thump sound as if I had a flat tire. But by the time I'd gone only a block the sound went away. I'm figuring that my tire-tread picked up something I hadn't seen and finally threw it off.

Then yesterday when I was driving my car, the same thing happened when going around a corner. Problem! Who knows, maybe I have a loose wheel or a loose brake-pad.

So I called the mechanic, told him my problem, and told him I'd drop off my car before Monday, and told him there's no rush and just fit it in when he can. Heck, my car is just a spare when we head off to different places.

How many bottles of wine did you bottle, Lee? Sounds like a good price on that bug screen. I was guessing about double that.

You sure were a blabber-mouth yesterday, K2. :)

So nice hearing from you Mike.

Time for a check in KC.

Good morning! Things are finally starting to settle down here, but I'm still confused on what day it is, missing church on Wed, choir practice Thurs & then having work day on Friday instead of Sat. has my brain totally scrambled!

Dave, did you check the trunk of your car to make sure nothing is rolling around when you turn the corner? You asked about lights & meals during the power outage, I had several LED lights & flashlights we could use for bathroom trips & such. We didn't stay up long once the lights went out. Jane had sent me home the day before with a big pork loin & I put that in the crock pot Wed. morning & when it was done made bbq pulled pork. Barb made macaroni salad & we had baked beans & chips. So that was lunch, then for dinner I turned some of the pulled pork into nacho's. We drove around Thurs. morning to check out Jane & Barb's houses & try to find someplace like mcdonalds or burger king to get breakfast, but they were closed until lunch time. So we had cold pulled pork sandwiches for lunch along with all the leftover salad & beans. Got a little boring but at least we didn't starve

Kathie, you will have to tell me more about the new field vision test the doctor is doing. Glad you didn't end up having an accident with that blow out on the freeway, that is a scary feeling!

Mike, I think any place you live has got it's good points & bad, other than our idiot governor to me Florida isn't any more dangerous than places with tornado's, wild fires or any other natural disaster. Just be ready to evac or hunker down.

Lee, those roll up screens are really popular in my community for the garage door. A lot of the people who had the slider kind have swapped out over the last year or so for the roll ups. Were you able to sample the wine before you bottled it?

Got all my pots & planters moved back out side yesterday, put some of the fall decorations back up but decided to just leave most of it packed up. It's getting to be more hassle than it's worth dragging stuff in & out every year, a pretty wreath & a fall garden flag are "festive" enough I'm thinking

and that's about all that's happening here in Belleview, have a great Sunday all!

Good, well, no it’s not. It’s raining and has been since 5:30 when Ava and I get up. So, there may not be any walks today if the weather guessers is right.
Hi Mike. You mentioned your roses. We still have hibiscus blooming! We didn’t see the northern lights or the meteor. I saw a couple of older model Fords but none of them was a Meteor. :emoticon 0100 smile:

Who’s that? Oh, hi Karen. Thanks for checking in. You know how we all care / worry. I don’t know why people here turn their garages into an extra room. But they do. Some with right proper glass doors and others, like your neighbourhood, have the screens. I know we decorate less for the seasons for the same reasons. I know you do but have a good word for everyone at church today.
“30 bottles of wine on the wall, 30 bottles of…” I’ll just stop there Dave. Ray helped us bottle, cork and label 30 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon. After we test tasted the batch. It was really nice and far superior, in our humble opinion, to the stuff we buy at twice the price. Hmmm. I’m wondering shock or strut depending on the type of suspension your car has. Hopefully the garage can get it sorted for you and at a good price.
I’m expecting a “catch up” post from our Kathie today. You sure were quiet yesterday.
OK friends. You all have a fantastic Sunday!

Too wet to go to the feeder to drop off peanuts, so the Blue Jays got fed from the deck railing. I get to see them up close that way too! One pic is of Blue Jay taking off w/peanut!

Karen: I think I saw you on the church cam at the end of the service earlier! Looking good!
Funny how we can get days mixed up so quickly. I at times open my cell phone to verify just what day it is! Ha ha.
Glad you and your sisters are are okay.

Lee: It rained really hard here from last night 10:00 pm and was still raining at 2:00 am.
It’s just overcast and chilly here now. Miss the Sunshine. No rides to Port Huron today. :( Had a visit AGAIN from the local Skunk! Pwew Wee! Stink comes right through the house! Yuk.

Your Wine bottling sounds fantastic. Do they start out with real fresh grapes or a liquid concentrate? Do they sell the wine bottles right there? Can you bring in those bottles (washed of course) if you make another batch?
Should be interesting to see how long the 30 bottles last.
I see a Wine Rack being built in your “hide away secret storage area” by you to protect the bottles from light! :beer2:

Mike we cleaned up most all of the dead flowers, etc. Cherry tomatoes had 4 small ones left that I picked before pulling the LONG vine down. I have the patio tomato with about 6 small Green Tomato’s still hanging on. I left them for now.

Dave: I think Karen gave you a good idea on CHECKING THE TRUNK for something ROLLING BACK AND FORTH ON TURNS! Maybe it’s a bottle of Jack Daniel’s back in the trunk or on the FLOOR IN THE BACK seat area ! Ha ha

Happy Birthday Dave. I hope you have many more. I think I'll have a piece of chocolat cake in your h onor. That would be nice, a bottle rolling around in your trunk.
K2,I Think Fay has quit picking t he tomatoes, by now the do not taste very good. We are still eating the ones she picked last week'
Lee. our hibiscus are long gone. They were very pretty while they lasted. Fay picked the marygolds. They still had some color but were fading. I think they were very bright this year. I would like to know also, how much of t he wine did you sip???? I'll try to spot the meteor next time around.
You are probably right Kc, tornadoes are very scary. One year we spent a few hours in our basement

Now that crack Karen, made me laugh!
Our hibiscus are usually long gone as well Mike. But for some reason, I guess with the warm early fall, both the red and white had a few more flowers.
There’s nothing like the smell of wet skunk to clear your sinuses Kathie! I loved your pictures of The Jays. They are fun to watch. Especially at The Navy Yard when they swoop down and nick a peanut one of the squirrels wasn’t fast enough to get. The wine is from concentrate. Ray’s supplier offers four levels of wine. We chose the “Estate” level which was second from the top. The bottles we used are brand new in a sealed case. He sells them for $1 each. We sanitized and rinsed each one before bottling. We can take them back for the next batch. We have a small dark room just at the bottom of the basement stairs. There is a fridge in there and it’s perfect for storing the remaining bottles.
I blame the bad weather today on Bill. His Patriots keep losing so he’s turning the weather against us. o_O
Have a good one my friends.

51F and RAINING steady here in Michigan! Never saw the SUN peak out today. Bummer.

STOP...... Lee...... Do you really have to store that wine in the refrigerator? I would think if you wanted a bottle or two to have handy for drinking, but all those bottles?? Hmmmm. Can't wait to hear your reply on that one.

DAVE: I forgot to ask you.........WHO GOT to take the 1st shower??? Did either of you use the SEAT yet?

I must confess, that when I took a shower earlier this morning, I must have used almost ALL the HOT water. It was just so nice and cozy-warm in there. My Arthritis loved it! Ha Ha.

Well, the Detroit Lions game is on and I'm out of here. Nothing else worth watching today.
