Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good afternoon!
Lee, I like how you think and as a matter of fact I DID conduct another muffin taste test this morning! Still a tie, luckily I have 4 more left so tomorrow my sister will join me in the challenge & perhaps we'll be able to declare a winner!
Kathie, I'd be willing to bet money that Doctors are behind the "new" ruling of no more phone visits, it's cutting into their insurance billing no doubt. Glad the test results were good!

Dave, hopefully YOU and Fuzzbutt were able to catch a few more winks this morning, you might want to consider NOT giving her that early morning treat, might be more incentive for her to sleep in for a bit longer.

Mike, are there any Kiffles left for the holidays?

Started out grey & gloomy this morning, what I thought was fog was actually RAIN! Hadn't seen much of that in a while! Sun is trying to come out now & I hope it makes it as I planned to set up for the community yard sale this afternoon. It's a pain if I have to rush & try to set up the morning of.
Jane & Hansel are coming over to spend the night & help out tomorrow. I have a pot of chili going in the crock pot & it's smelling mighty good in here, also made some rocky road bar cookies & some old world raspberry bar cookies, which also add to the nice aroma! I have a couple more kinds of cookies I'd like to make, but I'm going to wait till after my procedure Tues. it's to hard trying to read the small print of the recipe, even with a magnifying glass.
Oven is beeping at me so I'd best go check my cookies, have a great evening all!

Good news on the results front Kathie! I reckon the doctors could bill a lot more for multiple phone visits than office visits. At $2000.00CDN for a three night stay in that restored coach, well, I’d rather have two more weeks in Florida.
Good taste testers always try to have a baseline of at least three samples Karen. And add an independent second opinion for the third test. :emoticon 0100 smile: I recall our yard sale, pre Covid of course, when we were selling stuff as fast as I could get it out in the driveway. Sadly, as we moved during Covid, stuff that may have made its way to a yard sale found its way to the dump.

Fay and Pattie are baking t he kiffles, I have had two so far and they are very good.

K2, my aunt and a lot of the the older slovaks also made them with apricots. My Mother just made them with nuts. You can make cookies and they wouldn't be eaten until Christmas Eve??????

Kc, would they have been called kolacki or kolachka. I have heard them called different names. My Mother called them something like t hat and s she also made the nut role with the Kolachki type name. Mike, are there any Kiffles left for the holidays? If there isn't there will be a lot more of other goodies.

Dave, Fay woke me up this AM, I reached up, got a grape then waved her away. I felt too tired to get up.

At $2000.00CDN for a three night stay in that restored coach, well, I’d rather have two more weeks in Florida. I have to agree on that Lee. Years ago we could stay in texas for almost a month what it cost to stay in Florida.

I'm going to sneak another kiffle.

That’s three. A clear sign that you too Mike are an accomplished taste tester!

K2; That fancy train car turned into an Airbnb sure is plush and cozy looking. I'd expected a higher price per night than $356.

I'm with you KC in thinking that the doctor's in Michigan wanted a law banning doctor-home-visits.

Mike! Set that kiffle down and back away and no one will get hurt! :)

Oh how behavior changed once Covid hit, Lee. And of all things, people began hording toilet paper. I still don't understand that one.

At best we'll get a high temperature only getting up to the lower 30's today. But, no snow.

This morning the 2 grandsons with autism will be here to make and decorate some holiday sugar cookies. Teenagers who are 6 feet tall or taller. Still getting used to grandkids that big.

24F this morning rising throughout the day. It’s supposed to feel like 34F by this time tomorrow. There’s no snow in our forecast either. For now. It’s the wind that makes things feel so much colder. We had a lit “Ho Ho Ho” sign. It was on 2 braced legs about 3 ft high. The wind twisted the sign and broke both the legs! I’ll muck with it today to see if I can’t still use it but with shorter legs.
So Dave, how many sugar cookies do you plan on tasting? I say plan because you’re up against a couple of young fellas with a bit of a height and I imagine reach advantage!
Everyone have a fantastic Saturday. I’ll be back later to check up on you all.

Yup, we use to WAIT and LIVE for Saturdays back when we were all working folks. Now it's just another day! Kind of bums me out.

Mike: Keep testing those Kifle and enjoy each one.

DAVE: It's not the Doctors that don't want PHONE VISITS anymore. It's "MEDICARE". Doctors were getting paid for all those phone visits. It was a good thing when Covid first hit. Now I read that it will be on a "special situation basis".

My crazy husband is out on his bike with his buddies this morning. YES, I SAID CRAZY!

Okay folks, you all behave and enjoy the day. Coffee is here if you need a refill! Help yourselves.

It was a lot colder than we expected. We headed to The Navy Yard for a walk and met up with some of the regulars who said the same thing.
I sure hope Art is bundled up Kathie!
Speaking of coffee, our friend Lisa dropped off this really neat Advent calendar. We had to double down on the first couple of surprises because it’s already December 7.

I hope you got your HoHoHo sigh fixed Lee, Maybe 1 foot high will stay up. I bet you and your regulars meeting and chatting on your morning walks. I used to enjoy walking in the mall then having a cup of coffee and a donut after our walk. The Mall is no longer there. Have you warmed up yet?? The calendar looks very nice.

Thanks for the coffee K2, it went well with a kiffle. Make sure you give your "crazy husband" a hot cup of coffee and some of those goodies you baked. So far, all of the kiffles tested were very good.

Oh how behavior changed once Covid hit, Lee. And of all things, people began hording toilet paper. I still don't understand that one.
I for one Dave, would hate to run out of toilet paper; :emoticon 0104 surprised:
How old are your grandsons. The last I looked it was 45F. I'm surprised there is that much of a difference in temperature between us

Are you still doing muffin tasting Kc? Are there any more muffins left???

Lee: That’s a neat gift. Do you get a sample of coffee
every day?
Art has special WARM biking clothes for Winter. But I still think he’s nuts for going out there!
I give you a lot of credit going to Navy Park with the cold temps and wind so close to the water! Brave souls!

Mike: I made 90 Apricot Kifle this morning. Went really IMG_2190.jpegIMG_2183.jpeg

quick for a change. We TASTE TESTED 5 and they passed
! :emoticon 0115 inlove:

Karen: How did the Community Yard sale go?

I’m still trying to give away the 7.5 ft Xmas tree.

You all have a good Sunday.

Yep, a coffee a day leading up to Christmas Kathie. That’s a fine looking batch of baking.
Thank you for remembering Pearl Harbour Mike. One of the two most reverent places I have been. The other being the Vietnam Memorial in DC. I wasn’t able to get the legs for the sign into the hard ground. :(
How’d the yard sale go Karen?
G’nite folks. See you in the morning.

Good morning.
It’s 37F here right now. Even with the wind it feels like 32F. Balmy after the past few days.
Hoping Dave is sleeping in a tad after a day of kitchen festivities with Kathi and the grandsons.
As Christmas approaches we have noticed a distinct lack of shoppers in stores. A couple of small, independent shops we were in yesterday were very quiet. E-commerce is really impacting brick and mortar stores.
The postal strike continues and it seems from reports the union figured that, considering the season, the government would legislate them back to work after a few days. Nope! I’m sure that’s the road they lead members down when calling the strike.
Well now, ain’t that a cheery post for an otherwise wonderful Sunday morning! :p
All of you have a fantastic day.

Finally this computer works. A couple of hours ago it nor the TV worked.

Good Sunday morning, fellow sinners. Although I've always found that the sinners are more fun. :)

I'm going to answer your question first, Mike; The two autistic, tall grandsons are both teenagers in high school. It was very nice to hear them gabbing yesterday as they made Christmas cookies. Having normal conversations.

They've both mentioned in the past that since they are "different", most people avoid them which makes them feel isolated. But when here they feel comfortable to talk and give their opinions rather than just stay silent like they normally do when out in public.

It's pleasing to us and pleasing to them that here they feel safe and just part of the group.

It has got to be such a horrible experience to be a teenager and be shunned by other kids AND adults.

Thanks K2 for explaining Lee's advent calendar, which was about coffee. I couldn't figure it out from the picture.

Lee; On our trip to the USS Arizona Memorial we too were struck by how reverent people acted. In hushed tones, as if they were in a funeral home. I've never been to the Vietnam Memorial even though it was the era when I was in the service.

If I remember right KC, this is the happy week when you get to see more clearly. It'll be such a happy day.

HEAT WAVE....Could we actually get into the 40's today???

Quick good morning check in before I head off to church, will remind the good Lord how special all of you are to me!

NEVER again will I set up for a December yard sale! Total waste of time and it was freezing cold! There was a layer of ICE on the tables Sat. morning when I went to set up. Jane made $25, $20 of which was before the sale when I sold a set of end tables for her on market place. Barb made $20 and I made $16 and then spent $5 of that buying a 5x7 area rug from a neighbor, oh well easy come, easy go the rug was totally worth $5

Will try to check back in this afternoon, stay warm all!

I can’t think of a higher compliment than the ones The Boys gave you and Kathi Dave.
…And how special you are to all of us Karen. The door in this hutch swings both ways.

Good Sunday morning. Didn't make it to church.
Thank you, KAREN, for mentioning us SINNERS while you were in church! :angel2: You are the angel among us.

DAVE: So nice to read about the 2 grandsons having a good time at your house making cookies. It has to be a hard life for them out in the public. People and other kids are so brutal these days to others. SAD

Lee: If it didn't COST so much to go through the border, I could drive over some Kifle! The cost at the border is only going to get worse.
So, are you GATHERING things for the trip to Florida yet? Chop, Chop.....it will be here before you know it.

Karen: Bummer on it being cold at the Sale and not a lot of buyers. At least you got a carpet out of the deal.
Good luck this week with your eye procedure. You'll do just fine.

Mike/Fay: All I can say to you guys is STAY INSIDE and STAY WARM! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile::emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Since I stayed away from church, I think I'll help Artie gather some of those NASTY WILLOW LEAVES that blew onto our backyard lawn the last few days. The WIND was coming from the SOUTH the last few days and really put a blanket of those skinny leaves all over everything. They fly way up to the front of the house too.

It's supposed to rain late in the night and into Monday morning when we wanted to do that job since it was going to be 50F. Oh well, gotta do it when they are somewhat dry. Wet WILLOW LEAVES just don't move at all.

Have a good and safe day folks.

The cost at the border is set to go up another dollar on January 1 Kathie. Lu-Ann and I were talking about how it will cost $22 just to do a return trip across the border. Then, if you go to a show, sporting event etc. another $25 -$30USD just to park. The better part of $60.00CDN gone in the blink of an eye!
Yes, we have been giving some thought to what we are taking this winter. I suspect 4 weeks from today we’ll be at The Springs. :emoticon 0100 smile:
It’s 43F here now. We had a lovely walk by the river. A couple of freighters were headed up towards Detroit. It’s supposed to touch 50F later on. We’re thinking of another wander, this time through Fort Malden. All day rain predicted tomorrow starting around midnight.

Mike Elias

Bosun (Boatswain)
It sounds like the rain is pretty wide spread We are supposed to get rain staring tonight and into to morrow morning, it will be warmer tomarrow. We had in my hometown the largest flood in 1936. with all the snow, then warm temps the Ohio river flooded.
I recognized your kilfes K2. We made ours a little different. I bet the;y taste the same. We will do our best to stay warm, our gas bill might be bit highe., we had a very old 6 foot Christmas tree. We cut off the bottom 12 inches and used it a few more years then got rid of it.
It is wonderful the boys feel that much of ease around you and Kathi Dave. Its going to be 56 tomorrow here Dave, I'll try to direct some of the heat your way.
Sorry you had such lousy weather and a bad turnour Kc. I think your right, have the sales in t he spring or fall,

FINALLY got a nice young teacher to pick up the 7.5” Xmas tree tonight.
Art was reluctant to give it away. I asked him just what is he saving it for and he said perhaps one “year” I would want to have a bigger tree! Ha ha. No way. I like the Pencil Tree. I’m glad it went to a nice person.

Got the yard cleaned up from the Nasty Willow Leaves. And the next door neighbor helped when we were doing the bottom half by the creek. Nice gesture since it’s his huge Willow tree! :clap002: :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
Lee: I’m thinking we could start sailing paper boats with messages inside once the Border Fees get even more out of control!
Karen: Nice singing at your churches online service. It was nice to actually
SEE THE CHOIR! You did a good job!
We were watching a lot of football today.
The LA & Buffalo game was fantastic football.

I went and bought a gallon of paint from Sherwin Williams for Art’s bathroom. I won’t even tell you how much it was ON SALE. Crazy what they get for paint these days. I didn’t have them put any COLOR in it yet. We have to wait until the new counter is installed to figure out what color to choose. I just wanted to get the paint while the sale was still on.

Okay, almost ready for bed. Going to be baking again on Monday!

A rainy 42F start to this work week. Remember work weeks? :emoticon 0100 smile:
The LA & Buffalo game was fantastic football. Only if you’re not a Buffalo fan Kathie. The Bills are gonna be fired up against the next team they play. Oh look, it’s The Lions next Sunday. Good idea to get the paint on sale and add colour later. I’d never thought of that.
We have a couple more “warmish” days here Mike. Then it’s back to the low to mid 30’s. I looked up the Ohio River flood. I can’t imagine water cresting 55 feet above normal!
Our video doorbell decided to act up last evening. I tried rebooting the system to no avail so I disconnected it and brought it in for the night. A couple years back somebody left a creepy note, clearly from one kid to another, at our door by mistake. After that my Sweetie likes having one to see who may be near the door.
Anybody got any kiffle (kiffles?) or cookies left…
Have a great day everyone.
