Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady Will Feature An Onboard Record Shop And Karaoke Lounge

Virgin Voyages is returning to its Virgin brand roots and creating an incomparable music experience on their first ship, Scarlet Lady. Due to set sail for its inaugural season in 2020, Scarlet Lady will be equipped with an on ship record shop called Voyage Vinyl, The Groupie, a private karaoke and gaming lounge, and perfectly curated music and performances by up-and-coming artists as well as music trendsetters for Virgin Voyages’ Sailors to enjoy.

Virgin Voyages’ residency program will feature performances by world-class talent on ship, in-port destinations and at The Beach Club at Bimini. Just last month, Virgin Voyages announced that the Grammy and Oscar-winning DJ, songwriter and record producer, Mark Ronson, has committed to four performances at The Beach Club at Bimini in 2020. Based on Sailor demand, the company has expanded the star-studded residency music lineup to include the multi-platinum chart-topping artist,  DJ, producer/ remixer,  MK (Marc Kinchen), who has committed to one performance in 2020. The Grammy-nominated electronic music duo Sofi Tukker, known for their smash-hit Best Friend, will also join the Virgin Voyages residency program.

With the Virgin brand’s deep-rooted history in music, Virgin Voyages’ sonic identity will come to life aboard Scarlet Lady. Each space on Scarlet Lady will have a unique energy, thoughtfully developed by industry legends and brought to life by up-and-coming talent and special guest performances. The Virgin Voyages sonic identity will have a home in electronic music, but will also incorporate other music genres, ensuring that all Sailors will find a sound they love. The brand defines electronic, as not solely a traditional “EDM” sound, but will incorporate all electronically programmed sounds, even those of more classic eras, and the early innovators of the sound from rare disco tracks, through to 80’s sounds and other important periods of electronic sound. That means timeless classics from varying genres will be artfully blended with the new and rising artists.

As part of Virgin Voyages’ fierce approach to music, the brand also announced the expansion of their Creative Collective from design, food and entertainment to now include music, working with some of the most creative and transformative artists in the industry.

Virgin Voyages’ new music Creative Collective to include WhiteLabel Creative, a group of music industry insiders that specialize in sensory branding and cultural programming for hospitality and lifestyle experiences. WhiteLabel Creative is responsible for developing the background sonic palettes across the ship and securing DJs for The Beach Club at Bimini’s residency program.

Leaning into Virgin’s history in music, something old is new again with Voyage Vinyl, the record shop aboard Scarlet Lady. Voyage Vinyl will be the go-to spot on board for Sailors to experience music from all eras and genres. Voyage Vinyl features personal listening stations for Sailors to enjoy their favorite albums both current and classic. Sailors looking for something unique can also shop for limited-edition curated albums and special editions of classics. Sailors can also purchase music magazines, headphones and record players.

Voyage Vinyl will also double as a performance spot for live sets mixed by Scarlet Lady’s resident DJs.

Sailors can let loose at The Groupie, Virgin Voyages’ bookable karaoke, gaming and movie lounge. Designed by Roman Coppola, The Groupie was designed as a modernist take on a Japanese-style karaoke room for Sailors to enjoy singing along to their favorite tunes with friends.

Celebrating Music Launch

Virgin Voyages announced its music strategy in a panel discussion at Winter Music Conference and will partake in the local music scene by taking over a part of Gramps, 176 NW 24th St, Miami, in Wynwood for five days from 4-11 pm Tuesday, March 26 – Saturday, March 30.  Bargoers will have the opportunity to create their own art as a takeaway item at a vinyl spin art station. Virgin Voyages will also have an epic Instagram moment where visitors can hop on a giant turntable and insta their hearts away in a photo booth. Bargoers will receive a keychain to a special lockbox at Gramps, where they can try their luck to win special Virgin Voyages swag, vinyl record players, vintage records and more.

Why you should go on a cruise at least once in your life

OCEANIA CRUISES ROLLS OUT NEW VEGAN MENUS

Cruise passenger numbers are increasing year on year and they are a type of holiday everyone should do at least once. They offer a unique form of travel and you can see the world without spending time stressing in airports, on trains and carrying a large backpack around a city. Cruises seem to be completely off some people’s holiday radar and for others there is no better way to spend your leisure time.

Firstly, cruises are a great way to explore the world and see many different places on the one holiday. You can visit the most intriguing and exotic destinations, all without spending time waiting on your flight in the airport. Every cruise will stop in at least one port, and longer excursions stop at many more. You can explore historic landmarks, ancient ruins and nearby beaches. Dubai, the Caribbean, Bruges and the Netherlands are just some of the fantastic destinations you can cruise to. There is a destination for everyone, whether you want to enjoy culture and moments or beautiful beaches, just like those in the Sunny Shores slot on RoseSlots.com. This game provides a completely immersive summer experience with its beach theme and summer background music, which we all love to experience in reality too! There is no faster or cheaper way to destination hop and visit multiple islands in a short space of time. It’s great going to bed and waking up in a new country.

Luggage

Another reason to spend your hard earned pennies on a cruise, is that it’s all-inclusive. Everything you need for a vacation is in your hands at the cost of one fare. Instead of adding up the cost of a hotel, airline travel, other forms of transportation, meals and entertainment, it is all included for you on a cruise. They can also be quite cheap, depending on the cruise line, so if you do some shopping around you can find something to suit almost any budget. The only additional extras you will need to pay for are spa treatments, other excursions at the ports which aren’t included in your cruise package, alcohol (if you don’t have a drinks package, and miscellaneous items that you may not have packed in your suitcase.

A cruise is a perfect worry-free vacation. Usual travelling takes immense planning and research to perfect your day’s intintary, including searching for hotels, excursions and the best restaurants. However on your cruise, everything is already organised for you. There will be a selection of activities available on-board, and some at the ports, pre-organised, which you can go to if you wish. The cruise line will be experts at planning these activities and will always know the best things to do for you to enjoy your holiday.

It is a great way to meet new and interesting people. Cruises tend to be very social, and as many people are sharing the same experience, you are certain to meet some like-minded people that you will get along with. As it is a confined space, you will see the same people most days and this gives you the opportunity to get to know them. There are many themed and special interest cruises available, such as a Disney cruise, a Sci-Fi sea cruise or even Walking Dead or Star Trek themed cruises. Planet Cruise has a wide range of cruises with something to suit everyone.

If you live a very busy lifestyle, have a hectic work schedule or many family commitments, a cruise can be the perfect way to disconnect from everyday life. As your phone will not work at sea and the WiFi can be expensive, it is the ideal way to shut off your mind and get away from the stresses of day-to-day life. Many people on holiday are tempted by ‘just one more email’ and struggle to switch off, worrying about the mountain of papers on their desk when they return to work. Being out in the middle of the ocean, looking at the stunning views from the deck, can be the perfect escape for those with busy lifestyles. The panoramic views 24/7 are a wonderful distraction!

Why you should go on a cruise at least once in your life | 20

The dining on cruises is also well renowned for being fabulous. The cruise lines offer inclusive dining, as well as an increasing number of ships offering a variety of alternative onboard restaurants. All tastes, occasions and budgets are catered for, with a wide selection of food from continental favourites to foreign cuisines. The speciality restaurants are generally themed, steakhouses, French bistros, Japanese sushi or sports bars. Room service is usually available 24/7 on major cruise lines and is also frequently free of charge. Each port you stop at will also serve a new culinary experience, so you can try lots of different local delicacies.

A multitude of onboard activities awaits you on a cruise. Movie theatres, waterparks, swimming pools, spas, jacuzzis, basketball courts, comedy clubs, ping pong, kids clubs, gyms and bars are just some of the exciting things you can find on board. You will never be bored and short of something to do when you are sailing from port to port. When you reach each port you will also find plenty of excursions to do, such as scuba diving, historical trips and shopping.

Cruises are now attracting a younger demographic. Previously many thought they were just for older couples, retired individuals and families, however cruises can cater to everyone. Instead of dragging your backpack on trains and hostels around Europe, the younger crowd are now choosing a cruise as a perfect way to experience many different cultures and countries on one trip.

Sold on a cruise? We thought so! If you don’t know where to start, check out this article from Forbes on the best cruises to take in 2019 to get some further inspiration and start planning your trip. 30 million people are expected to sail the high seas in 2019 and you should be one of them!

Carnival Cruise Line has partnered with Lakeland, Fla.-based Brew Hub to become the first cruise line to can and keg its own private label beers crafted by its in-house brewery team aboard Carnival Horizon and Carnival Vista.

The agreement – the first of its kind between a craft beer manufacturer and a major cruise line – was announced Sunday, March 17, at an event aboard Carnival Magic at PortMiami.

“With the success of our breweries on Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon the obvious next step was to let all of our guests fleetwide enjoy our refreshing craft beers and that’s where our partnership with Brew Hub began,” said Edward Allen, Carnival’s vice president of beverage operations. “To be the first cruise line to ever scale up its beverage operations by canning and kegging their own beer is unprecedented. My hope is that our guests will take a four-pack home with them to share with family and friends as a refreshing and memorable reminder of their cruise.”

The three beers, which are based on recipes developed in-house by Carnival’s brewery team, are now available in 16-ounce cans and on tap across its 26 ships and at all private destinations. The beers include:

  • ThirstyFrog Caribbean Wheat – an unfiltered wheat beer with flavors of orange and spices.
  • ParchedPig West Coast IPA – the embodiment of a traditional West Coast India Pale Ale, this hoppy, intense beer is loaded with bitterness with a bright flavor profile and distinctive aroma of citrus and pine.
  • ParchedPig Toasted Amber Ale – highlighted by its rich amber color and notes of toasted caramel and biscuit, this beer is well balanced, smooth and highly drinkable.

“Carnival’s team of brewers have created three amazing craft beers, and we could not be more excited to be working together,” said Tim Schoen, CEO and Founder of Brew Hub. “Now passengers on all 26 Carnival ships will be able to enjoy these fresh, high-quality craft beers on every voyage and take some home after their trip.”

Cruise Compete

Since introducing the first North American brewery at sea in 2016, Carnival has served nearly 300,000 pints of its private label craft beers to its guests. Much like breweries on land, Carnival’s brewery team has also taken advantage of seasonal products and created unique brews like a Miami Guava Wheat and Pumpkin Spice Ale. A brewery will also be featured aboard Carnival Panorama when it debuts in California in December 2019.

How to Find the Best Cruise Bargains in 2019

The Most Exciting New Cruise Ships to Sail in 2019

The season of holidays is slowly arriving and people are getting excited to avail the best deals available on the internet! The best deals are not just offered for hotel stay and accommodation, but also for transport as well. And this is where the chunk of the excitement lies in – a cruise that is pocket-friendly and doesn’t compromise on quality as well! Organizing and finding a cruise can become a pretty hectic deal when it comes to corroborating timings, planning on due dates, deciding on a budget (which one can also pay with phone credit) etc. And that’s how this guide might help such people who are looking for a direction towards this step!

When to opt for buying cruise tickets:

Usually, January till March is the period when one might consider booking for cruises. This is the off-season booking period which in business jargon, is known as the ‘Wave Season’. This is the period when many cruise lines offer the best offers as their promotional bidding in order to capture the attention of holiday-going cruise seekers!

Book Early to Stay on top:

The holiday season is the period when almost everyone is crazy to spend quality time with friends and family. Naturally, all kinds of bookings; be it accommodation or travel, get booked early. A clear and smart move is to prepare and plan for the holidays well ahead of time and book for cruise linings that offer the best services, way ahead than the rest.

Be Flexible in order to accommodate more:

Customers are known to be quite adamant when it comes to their needs and wants, and probably every cruising line company try their best to accommodate all their needs. However, sometimes holiday goers might not receive the right stuff (according to their interests) even when they are ready to pay for it as well. What are results in is a moment of despair and the spirit of the holiday season gets salty! It is better to be flexible and to approach for every opportunity that is available at the moment. The cruise in itself offers a great experience. A little compromise on the availability of rooms on decks not as per to one’s interests might come off as a welcoming approach. This may allow people to enjoy the other aspects of cruising!

Look out for the right contacts:

It is better to be in contact with travel agents who are known to provide luxury cruise bookings to customers at a relatively good price. These agents are known to provide great deals and offer great discounts as well, so might as well try to avail them as well!

Cruise Compete

Look for reviews and the best promotional deals:

The internet is full of sites claiming they have the best deals to offer to customers. In fact, it is appropriate to conduct as small secondary research and find reviews on cruise lines. Reviews can also be found about sites that offer the best promotional deals which can be availed at the earliest.

A Guide to Casino Games to Play on a Cruise Ship

Casinos on cruise ships may be smaller than the ones you see in Las Vegas, but there is no much difference between the two. Cruise lines offer some of the best and most popular games from physical and online casino real money. Here are the games you should play on a cruise ship casino:

Slot machines and table games

Cruise ship casinos have a range of slot machine options as well as table games, including blackjack and numerous poker games (Let it Ride, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Three Card, Carribean Stud).

You can play these games against the dealer. Some cruise ships have dealer-dealt tables for Texas Hold’em that’s played against other players, whereas others use electronic Poker Pro tables. But some ships don’t offer Texas Hold’em; therefore, if you are a fan of this game, you will want to confirm this before buying your ticket. You will also find at least one craps table and one roulette table, and only a few will have Baccarat.

Penny Slots

Nearly all cruise ship casinos have penny slots. But there are many variations on how to win. At one cent per variation, your one cent wager can cost you more than two dollars a go.

Higher risk tables

Only a few cruise ships offer this option. On some of the best cruise ships with casinos, if there are enough high rollers who want to play high stake games, it can be arranged. However, for the most part, tables are usually limited.

Blackjack, poker and slot tournaments

Most cruise ship casinos offer tournaments that you can take part in. The most common gambling tournaments include games like blackjack and slot. With most tournaments being buy-ins, you have to pay a certain amount of money before you can participate. On the upside, you will not spend any money during the tournament.

For some cruise ships, you can actually rebuy during poker and blackjack tournaments. Mostly, those who win in these tournaments get money, but on some shipping lines, winners get some special treats. This could be something like a free cruise for two.

Important Things You Need To Know About Cruise Ship Casino Games

Here are a few things you should know about casino games on a cruise ship:

  • Is cruise-ship casino open around the clock?

Cruise ship casinos only operate when the cruise ship is out there at sea. However, the casino can also open in port at regions where gambling is not illegal, such as Malta and Bermuda. Some shipping lines close casinos during the day even when the ship is sailing because they know that most people are busy doing other things during the day. Night hours may vary but most casinos on cruise ships don’t close until 2 or 3 AM. It is always important that you check your everyday cruise schedule for casino hours.

  • What’s the minimum age allowed on a cruise ship casino?

For most cruise ships, the required minimum age to play or be at their casino is 18 years. Some shipping lines have their minimum age at 21 on all sailings or certain sailings. If you would like to gamble, but you think you might be too young, make sure that you confirm with the cruise line or travel agent before booking.

Most cruise ship casinos allow you to deposit cash. You can also use your cruise card. When playing at the table, your cash money will be changed into chips or the price of the chips can be charged on your cruise card. Most slots use cruise cards, but some take cash. Only a few casinos in cruise ships are cash-only. Most ships have an ATM, but the withdrawal fee is usually very high. You may want to bring some bills if you are not sure about how the cruise ship casino works.

You can only get free drinks in cruise ship casinos where drinks are always free. Generally, you will have to pay as you do in the dining room or at the bar. If you are a member of the casino loyalty program at the cruise ship and have earned enough points, you might get some free drinks. However, most programs will require you to wager huge amounts of money before you can get drinks served.

  • Do cruise ship casinos have a loyalty club where I can get some perks and points?

Most cruise ship casinos have loyalty programs that are separate from the cruise line’s loyalty program. The more money you bet, the more points you earn. The rewards usually come in the form of free cruise sailings and drinks. To get a significant amount of points, you will have to bet a significant amount of money. You may end up spending more than what you will get for the reward. Keep in mind that the rewards you get on one cruise ship cannot be transferred to another ship.

This depends on the cruise ship you are sailing in. Most ships will allow you to smoke in their casinos. But some ships don’t allow smoking. So, you will want to make sure that you confirm this before bringing your cigarette on the cruise ship casino.

Viking Cruises Celebrates With The Launch Of Seven New River Ships

Viking Cruises, New River Ship Ceremony
Viking Cruises, New River Ship Ceremony

With a cool breeze and sunny skies along the Rhine River in Basel, Switzerland. It was perfect weather for a naming ceremony and celebration. Cruise Addicts was honored to be in attendance to witness this ceremony and celebration as Viking welcomed the seven new ships to its river fleet. Of the seven ships, six are Viking Longships – Viking Einar, Viking Sigrun, Viking Sigyn, Viking Tir, Viking Ullur and Viking Vali  which will be deployed on the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers. The seventh new ship – Viking Helgrim – was inspired by the Longships design and built for the Douro River. With the additional new ships it will bring Vikings total count of river ships to an amazing 72.

“We began hosting guests on the rivers of Russia 22 years ago, we have always done things differently. We focus on the destination, and we provide travel experiences that allow our guests to learn, to enrich their lives and to explore the world in comfort. It is ‘The Viking Difference’ that has made us the leading river cruise line in the world – and has helped river cruising become one of the fastest-growing segments of travel,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “As the leader, it is also important that we recognize those who have helped us achieve success. This year I am especially proud to honor members of the Viking family as godmothers of our newest river ships.”

With Swiss Alpine Horns playing, the naming ceremony began. Traditional ship naming and launching ceremonies date back to the 3rd millennium BC with the purpose to bring good fortune and safety to the new ship, its crew and the passengers she will carry. Early Egyptians were known for calling on gods to the protect ships and other nationalities spilled blood as a sacrifice. During the medieval age, they offered wine as a substitute for the blood. The tradition continues today with women replacing the religious men of the past.  Viking invited seven long-serving employees and important members of the company’s family to serve as honorary godmothers of the new ships.

  • Natalia Hofmann, Godmother of Viking Helgrim
  • Wendy Atkin-Smith, Godmother of Viking Sigrun
  • Rikke Semb Pertile, Godmother of Viking Sigyn
  • Gisela Rückert, Godmother of Viking Tir
  • Linh Banh, Godmother of Viking Ullur
  • Minxuan Zhao, Godmother of Viking Vali

The naming event was executed by connecting the new ships via satellite across four European cities. Viking Einar and Viking Sigrunwere docked in Basel and named by in-person by their godmothers. The other five ships were “virtually” named by their godmothers: Viking Sigyn and Viking Ullur in Rostock, Germany; Viking Tir and Viking Vali in Brunsbüttel, Germany; and Viking Helgrim in Porto, Portugal. In keeping with another maritime tradition, a bottle of Gammel Opland aquavit was broken on the bow of each new ship. Gammel Opland hails from the same county in Norway where Chairman Hagen’s mother, Ragnhild—also lovingly known as “Mamsen”—was born and was her favorite brand of aquavit.

After the ceremony those in attendance enjoyed dinner at Basel’s Fondation Beyeler museum, set amidst the museum’s newest and most ambitious exhibition: The Young Picasso. Blue and Rose Periods. It features priceless artworks. It was an amazing treat to watch a performance by Alma Deutscher, the 14-year-old English composer, pianist, violinist, and child prodigy—who is a favorite of Chairman Hagen’s. Her performance made the evening extra special.

Cruise Compete

Viking Domination

Since starting with river cruises in Russia over twenty-two years ago, Viking Cruises has grown up and become what Chairman Hagen calls, “A real company”. With over 9,000 employees, generating 3 billion in revenue I would call that an understatement. They have created an award-winning product on the rivers and oceans year after year. They dominate the river cruise market with an almost fifty percent share. Since introducing ocean cruise vessels in 2015 with the Viking Star, their ocean cruise products growth has soared. The Viking culture on the rivers and now oceans has made this phenomenon possible. Guests enjoy the unique offerings and also what Viking doesn’t offer. The inclusiveness of their cruises lets passengers know what is and is not included up front. Further, Viking chooses to not “nickel and dime” it’s guests. This allows guests to relax and a not worry about what extra costs may lurk around their next excursion.
